Is there any source or reference news articles on this? Asking as I got a similar worded image (attached) for 1st of March on WA groups. Had to go to office that day, Back then roads were all empty that day ironically

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Some stats for last 10 years. Both 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers have doubled. Adding to that are commercial vehicles. But the roads have remained almost same. Only additional could be flyovers which serve the purpose of bypassing signals.

A few shops are on fire right now. Expect some traffic on Sarjapur Road, towards ORR, just before fire station.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I think Bangalore roads are at their best currently thanks to the upcoming elections. Almost all surfaces are recently tarred and smooth, barring a few roads. Drove on the Hosa road (Central Jail road) towards Sarjapur road yesterday and it was in a pretty bad state after crossing Nandini milk booths junction. Plenty of potholes and the surface is seriously damaged. Wonder why they left out this road.

Not sure but the surfaces might have improved in pockets. The roads near my place are all patchy. In Rajajinagar there were roads once upon a time now all I see are half dug up dirt tracks. Ring Road as well from Nayandahalli to Silk Board requires proper re surfacing. Same is the case for roads in Peenya, Dasarahalli, Jalahalli etc.

This Nataka, of laying a pitiful layer of bitumen, starts before every election; only for the roads to return to its original glory after the election!
Pity us mortals.

Try 24th main, JP Nagar, heading south. Raghavendra Matth to RV Aster. I am surprised how they leave this road in such a bad condition ..

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Bengaluru on top, but for the wrong reason!

Bengaluru second ranked in most congested cities in the world.

India has two cities – Bengaluru and Pune – in the Top 10 cities where drivers spend the most time sitting in their cars. Motorists in London experience the worst congestion in the world – travelling at an average of just 14 kph during rush-hour.

It was worser earlier. Now recently they have atleast tarred from Lacasa till Sarjapur Rd. Not sure why they left out Nandini Jn till Lacasa. May be that is coming up.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

With the opening up of Chord road flyovers, its so easy to driver from Vijayanagar to Mahalakshmi layout with any traffic lights.

Generally the roads in this area are well paved and I dont see any potholes covering long distances.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I agree with Chord Road , with the opening up of the flyovers and the white topping in Vijayanagar side it is good, but the roads are in a very dismal state just 2 roads away from Chord Road in Rajajinagar. With the elections coming up ,looks like in that area every road is dug up and refilled in a hurry.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

It happens before elections, because the present govt. likes to empty the exchequer or treasury, so that they can extract maximum bribe (now it's called as commission). Also, if they don't come to power again, the new govt. will struggle for the first 6 months without commission.

Another advantage is no one will take up responsibility. They can pass on the baton to ex.
So, don't be excited with good roads, it may be temporary. Let us see, if they withstand the next monsoon.
