Loving the 2016 Triumph Thruxton And Thruxton R, released at the EICMA Milan show last month . Has all the perfect retro line, with the modern Euro-racer feel.

I am so happy Triumph has released a new Bonneville line up, not that I am buying a new bike, but the second hand cost of the older models will fall in a year or so, currently most of them hover around 5.5 LK with around 4.9 to 5 with negotiation.

Re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

Apparently, the entire new model range is being launched in India (all five models). However, the T100 will continue to be sold. The base Bonneville will be discontinued. The estimated time of launch is February 2016 at/around the Auto Expo and deliveries will start in March 2016. Now this is based on hearsay and I am not sure about the reliability of this information.

Upon being asked whether one can expect clearance discounts on Bonneville stocks, the answer I got was not very encouraging - "Unlikely that there will be excess stocks remaining before launch".

I read in one of the internet reports that the bikes will be built in Thailand. Now if Triumph is able to take advantage of the FTA between India and Thailand then the pricing can be competitive I guess.

I find the Thruxton R really tempting but I don't think it will be less than Rs.10 lakhs where it begins to lose the value for money proposition.

The new bonneville street is supposedly more powerful on specs compared to Tigers with 800 cc engine. Hopefully they come with ABS options as it seems to be mandatory for all bikes coming out in 2016. Many are keeping a close watch of these bikes and the launch price will be the decider.

Looks really "drool worthy"

Only concern was what was mentioned in the video about the BHP. Really is it down by 5-6 BHP down from the previous avatar ? Wonder how its going to sit in the Indian scenario.

Hope it goes well

Best Regards, Ride Safe & Happy New Year 2016

If you want to buy a triumph, make sure you are dressed properly.
Triumph Motorcycles has turned down customers wearing slippers!!!

This is too much...more than that RTO where someone was denied a licence for wearing shorts

Quoting a small part of the Source article below.
Quote:
Following their policy of ride safely and ride responsibly, Vimal Sumbly, Triumph Motorcycles India MD, reveals that the company has refused to hand over bikes to some customers in the past two years, if the customer was not appropriately dressed to take the motorcycle home.

"In our store, even if a customer walks in with full money, we refuse him the bike if he is not ready to wear a helmet, or riding boots, or does not hold a valid driving license. We have lost some 12 customers in India that way," he says.
His point is right, but then I find this highly impractical. the owner should buy the gear even before the bike itself

I am sure he means at least wearing shoes and jeans and a full-face helmet. Respect! If someone went to buy a Triumph wearing slippers, good that they turned him away!

Take a look at the delivery pictures of a few dealers and you'll realize that its soundbytes rather than action on the ground. It infuriates me to see fellow RATs riding sans helmets, basic shoes and gear. While I admit to riding sans jacket a few times due to the extreme heat here, a helmet, gloves and boots are things I dont leave home without.

Triumph motorcycles is rumored to launch 2016 Tiger Explorer range in India during the latter half of the year.

Quoting from the source :
Quote:
The Triumph Tiger Explorer range gets divided into six new models under two main variants - XR and XC with the former being a complete adventure tourer while the latter is inclined towards highway touring, similar to the Tiger 800cc lineup.
This will also include electrically adjustable windscreen which is a segment first and includes four preset drive modes (Road, Rain, Off-Road and Sport) and one customizable mode.

Triumph Pulls Out ₹850 Crore Investment in Karnataka, Moves to Manesar

Quote:
The British bike maker had planned to build a manufacturing facility in the Kolar district of Karnataka at an investment of 850 crore. However, the state government's uncooperative approach left the company helpless and forced them to move out of the state. Triumph will now setup its manufacturing facility in Manesar instead.

Triumph's proposed bike manufacturing facility in Kolar was said to be spread over a 30-acre plot in Narasapura Industrial area. The production plant was said to have an initial manufacturing capacity of 2,50,000 high-performance motorcycles per year. The move would have created employment opportunities for thousands in the area.

An amount (undisclosed) was also paid as advance to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) towards land acquisition and allotment. The project did receive the necessary clearances way back in 2012, much before the commencement of its commercial operations, but did not move further due to the land-related issues.

Read this on TOI. The source of (mis)information seems to be the same for all news agencies.

Triumph sold a sum total of 1300 motorcycles in India last year. Globally, with all their manufacturing locations combined, they sold a tad over 50,000 bikes.

An Indian Triumph plant with an initial capacity of 2,50,000 bikes will go bust in no time. HD, Triumph, BMW & Ducati combined do not sell that many bikes globally in a year!

Re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

Although rolling out 250,000 bikes per year is closer to fantasy world for Triumph, but I remember reading a while back that Triumph was working on a 250 or 300 cc bike for volume sales, like the KTM or soon to be launched BMW 310 so probably in that case 25,000 maybe a closer figure for Triumph, of course in optimistic terms I guess.

Triumph Chandigarh is located in a big shopping mall. Loads of window shoppers come in for demo ride wearing slippers and half pants with t shirts. Rightly many are refused the demo as they do not pose as serious buyers. Sometimes asking for Rocket demo.
