I returned from my trip only at 3 am in the early morning today, having driven 50 hours continuously from Trivandrum to Bombay via Madras and Hyderabad (longest route possible!!!), covering 2,450 kms. Not slept for last 3 nights, since I left early morning (115 am) on Saturday, and have been driving through Sat night and almost all of Sunday night. Thanks to all your good wishes at the last meet, I had a safe trip, covering Bombay-Bangalore-Trivandrum-Pondicherry-Madras-Hyderabad-Bombay.

Have a good meet

fifan,

We will do better than snaps, just because you missed out we have already firmed up another meet on Wednesday the 20th i.e. tomorrow evening at 'KAKORI' in Mahim. So now it will be easier for you to join in. Bol Bolero will post the timings and location details later today. See you there.

hvkumar,

Tuvada te jawaab nahin!!

What a monstrous drive this time. From the West to the South of country to the South-West cross over to the South-East, up to South-Central and back to the West.
Are you the guy responsible for keeping all the GPS companies in business? I did not mean by usage but as in telling them where and what needs to be updated in their data banks

It is good to know that you are back safe and sound and I would like to take the opportunity to invite you over to the meet at Mahim per details above. We will look forward to hearing about your new escapades.

@All,

A thumping meet in the heart of Bombay. Great company, engrossing conversation, interesting food what more can a tbhpian ask for, the drive to and from the Baghdadi was a given but yes we have to have better paan the next time around. I am sure we will rectify that in the next meet on the morrow.

Shouldnt we open up a new thread now?
We have already had an extra meet in this thread

Or perhaps we can open up a "Mini Meets In Mumbai" thread so that from now on, all our "in-city" meets can be posted in one place & no need to keep opening new threads. Any suggestions?

Good idea, we can even ask mods to rename this thread as "Mini Meets In Mumbai".

@Super select, how is the veg food here, ow me and Xehaust will have to do alternative arrangement before coming to Kakori house, even for F1 Fan right .?

parimal_g,Xehaust, SuperSelect (kicking and screaming again - you bet),

Too late we realised that we had sizable participation from vegetarians last night. Baghdadis is not the option for a good vegetarian menu.

See below a review of Kakori House ( I've picked up only the review of the vegetarian menu) :

..Veggie surprises here! Dum Subz masala biryani (Rs 130) tasty and flavoursome.Bigger surprise the veg Sabz Galawati kebab moist and dense with flavour.Am not a fan of the Makhani paneer (though my guests love it) and we recommend this tiny,openthrough-the-day eatery nudged into the dusty, traffic choked arterial road of Mahim, where parking is tough and no alcohol is served.

This is available at : http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/l...leshow/5917067

You can Google Kakori House, Mahim and get more reviews.

Note that parking space is dicey and there is no bar.

Heartily agree with Xehaust's suggestion of a separate thread for the gourmands and gourmets of Bombay.

Regards, drive safe

I think this will be a "LOP withdrawal.." no, wait, "Baghdadi withdrawal symptoms" meet.

Kakori house is a tiny eatery, touted to have the "softest kebabs in the world"
Run by Ishtiyaque Qureishi, son of the legendary Imtiyaz Qureishi, their speciality is Awadhi and Lucknowi sorry, "Lakhnavi" cuisine.

Their famous "galawati" kebabs are rumoured to melt in the mouth. These were apparently custom designed for the 'aiyyashi' Nawabs of yore, who were too lazy to even chew the tasty morsels that landed on their tongues.

@Parimal: No worries, they have enough veg stuff too, including some interesting wraps.

@Hvk sir: Tussi mahaan ho !

Edit: The place is really tiny guys. Let's confirm our numbers real soon.

Further Edit: I am NOT screaming and kicking !

SuperSelect,

Let me assure you there will be no withdrawal symptoms for Baghdadi's food ever. LOP was yumm, atleast the Kulcha's were. I am sure Kakori will be great too, hope to see you all there come Thursday.

Legacy pictures

Sorry guys, I was away for some days, and my computer too was away for many more days. But now I am back on line so hope to be in on the next meet in town. Here are some pictures from the LOP meet.
Please allow me to provide some fun captions for the frames with no offence intended.
1. Issigonis trying his hand at off-roading?
2. With a little support, AnilisAnil rises to the occasion.
3. With only a menu card and no food yet F1Fan fights hunger pangs.
4. Bolero sir has a bad foot and gets a little help to limp.
5. Goose checking out his roots.
6. Guys exchanging notes about the food?
7. Guys thanking Khoj for the meet and food.
