Guys, now that we've just gone thru Holi, I'm sure some of our beauties have been sprayed with color by sadistic ******** who get a kick out of ruining anything looking good that don't belong to them! My Fiesta was just sprayed this afternoon, parked outside my house!

Any suggestions how to get rid of the color without sending it to the workshop for a rubbing compound job? Will any of the sprays etc available at the pumps do the trick? I did wash it out immediately but its not going....Oh, by the way, its green.......on a silver car :Frustrati

bad luck man should have kept ur car covered took that precaution with my car yesterday so no rang on my car try washing it with some car shampoo maybe it will go off

tough luck, these colors do last....and if your car is a light colored car..then sorry pal...

what to use to keep the outside plastics shiny i mean the plastic panel between the bonnet and the front windscreen will dashboard polish work

There seem to be a lot of people who are using chamois to dry their cars. Here is my take on it....Chamois will remove wax faster than other materials. Just think how the chamois clings to the surface of the vehicle. It is this very nature that strips the wax. Frankly chamois is a very old fashioned way to dry a car. Get hold of some micro fiber towels.

well i am quite late in suggesting you over this thing, but since you have not replied so far about what you did to get rid of that green color from your new silver fiesta, i am considering it as you still need my help. :D

you can use diesel. simple.

dip a cloth's corner in diesel and rub t over the green color and let it stay there for 3-4 minutes. then wipe it off with a soft cotton cloth.

diesel works as a quick-fix polishing solution too. but donot allow it to stay for more than 3-4 minutes at any one place. rub it off immediately. better take help of another man.
one can apply diesel and another one can wipe it of as soon as it is applied.

Dont' soap or shampoo on the body often. I do a soap wash once in 6 months and then carnoba wax it. Even if you wipe your car daily, the wax coat will remain for over 100 washes, provided it is treated and not hard borewell water.

I disagree. Never ever use a dry cloth to wipe your car. Always a damp cloth because a wet one would leave water marks behind. Even the Chamois needs to rinsed in water & squeezed at frequent intervals. Also you need to keep changing the side of the cloth/Chamois while wiping.

I noticed quite a lot of watermarks (?) on my front windshield. These affect the visibility at night.
I use borewell water, so that probably is a reason for the water marks. However, I do take care of wiping the glass clean with newspapers... and inspite of this, the watermarks were formed...

Taken care of by the dealer during the service by applying a polish. Well that's what he said. Could not discuss in detail with the service advisor on this front over the phone...

Any idea on what this polish is?

Hi All,
Living in a Dusty place like mumbai its really difficult to keep the car shining all the time. Here is what exactly i do.

Daily: Before wiping the car i remove the layer of Dust using a soft duster (available on roadside). Then i take a wet cloth wipe off the whole body. This takes atleast 10-15 mins.

Polishing: I go for polishing whenever the shine is wearing out.
In my terms there are two types of polishing
Without Effort and With Effort polishing.

In Without Effort polishing i go for any liquid polish (Motomax, Turtle wax Spray, Waxpol liquid) which requires little effort to wipe off the polish.

In With Effort polishing, I bet it burns lots of calories. I use Waxpol Hard Wax, it requires lots of effort wiping off the wax but its worth do it after the glaze it gives. I have also observed that the polish does not wear out during the rains easily unlike other liquid polish. So i religiously apply Hard wax every year before the rains.

For the car interiors especially the plastic i use silicon polish (spray cans found in HP petrol pumps). Silicon polish is really effective and the shine last for a long time.

I am wondering what is teflon coating all about, never tried it. Would like to try it ?
Is it similar to clear ????

Rudra sir, V12, speedy and others, i need help as to which car-polish do i go in for. My Silky Silver Esteem is 4months old now and as soon as i got the car in January i had done the TPC3 Valugard paint protection which has a 3 year service warranty. I have never waxed the car till date. I wanted to know as to which kinda polish do i go in for. Should i go in for the Turtle-Wax Platinum Series Paste Wax or Turtle-Wax Platinum Series Liquid Wax. I want to know which one will be better than the other. I have read excellent reviews about the Platinum Series and i want to buy it for my car.

And also how does the Platinum Series compare with the Turtle-Wax Emerald Series?

I want to personally polish my car. Should i use a sponge to polish my car?? or is there something else that i can use? Please help!

good that you have done the valuguard...its a nice product ...i had used emarald series also ...but i found the platinum series to be better ....also the platinum one costs about double the emarald ....

you get a sponge along with the polish ....use that to apply the wax ...and then for the buffing you can use Chamois or the regular yellow cloth you get at signals ...

take care not to wax in direct sunlight or when the surface is hot ...

ideally wax the car when its just cleaned ...



i prefer the platinum series .....

about wax paste and the liquid one ...the liquid wax tends to get wasted...also it can lak if the cap is not tightened properly

Also i would like to know what precautions do i take inorder to avoid any wax on the rub strips or mudflaps etc. Will there be white marks and can i use Turtle wax 2001 interior polish for the rub strips after i wax my car??? Will this remove the wax stains from them??? And also how long should i keep the wax on the car before i buff it off for the maximum gloss??? please: Help!

Prince here is what I do and have got decent results on my Wagon R:

1. Clean the car thoroughly
2. Take a wet sponge and apply Wax (Turtle White color). Apply only for a small area. I do doors one by one and then the bonnet and the top of car in that order.
3. Foreach area after the applicaiton of the wax is over, wipe it clean with an almost dry cloth. The key is not to let the wax dry completely.
4. After buffing an area move over to another area and start at step 2.
5. After all the buffing is complete, do an overall buffing.

The whole process takes about 45 mins.

I've also tried the Turtle wax (Colored). i find that this is better. While the white wax enhances the shine, the colored one makes some of the imperfections also disappear like swirl marks. In this case this is the method I follow:

1. Clean the car thoroughly.
2. take a slightly wet sponge and pour the colored wax on to it and start applying on the surface. Once applied keep buffing with dry cotton for polish. At places where there is deep scratches apply the chipstick also before the applicaiton of the colored wax.
3. Follow this step for each door, then bonnet and the top of the car in that order.

Total time taken about 1 hr.

Care should be taken to not apply the colored wax/white wax on to bumper and other plastics. First time around I applied on them, and hte whole thing dried up also. I'm still having the white marks on my bumpers. As for the colored wax be careful when you apply on the bonnet and near windows. On bonnet, the spout can get sticky with the wax and the color will be looking ugly. On windows again the chances of the colored wax sticking on the edges will make it look ugly.
