Got myself Formula 1 Wash & Wax and ArmorAll Tire Foam.
Need to get some good cloth for the wiping part though. The one I have now is leaving marks on the paint.

Shiny new black paintjob + monsoon = major headaches!!

Try to get a leather chamois, it is very effective and durable. Go for the cheaper one , may not be original( original costa 900+) but good. I have used one which was worth 120 rs , still going great.

Thanx fot the reply sir.Wanted to know the difference between teflon n 3M. Is the latter way better than the former. The name of the shop which charges Rs5000 for a polish is QMI india T.C. Pvt Ltd,mission road, bangalore. They use a paint sealant with teflon. One year warranty n assurance of guaranteed protection against fading,UV rays, acid, rust, dust n air scratches. Is it worth going for this or just a 3M polish from the chevy company itself considering the number of scratches n color fade my optra has gone thru.

Mods note: Please do not use a entire (especially long) qoute for your reply.

bluenest99, this is a call you have to take. Personally I've never liked teflon coating.

If you wish, I can see your car before you decide. You can pm me for that.

vikram_d from bangy confessed some time back that he used nail polish to get rid of minor scratches on his gleaming black swift :D .

Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose.

^^
Wow! I will do it asap. Do i need to get it done by someone or would it be simple enough to DIY? I dont think i need any craftsmanship if its exactly the same colour...what say?

Bangy boys any idea where in town I can get service from 3M ? Price's included would be of great help.

Read about the 3M finnesse on a different thread to get rid of minor niggles on the paint. Any help appreciated.

Just got this from the 3M representative at the HM garage. For some reason the rates are comparatively lower than the other places.

3M Authorised Distributor & Service Provider
Spot Free solutions
#12, 8th cross, Indiranagar,
1st Stage, Bangalore 560038
Ph. 30964922, 51255281.

For older cars i.e. more than 1year they recommend Surface Refinement. This involves the following steps

1. Complete External wash
2. buffing/scratch removal
3. claying to give a smooth finish and fill in
4. Polish using 3M machine polish
5. Miracle glaze finish to get wet look and shine.

For the lancer the entire process costs Rs.2600 of done at HM.

Prices I'm not sure. These same guys do the work at India garage and they charged me Rs.2600 for the surface refinement package. works really well.

They should charge a similar amount.

I'll mostly get this done once the rain subside.

ahoy any idea how to clean car with just water (no shampoo etc) every day ? what precautions etc ? and what type of cloth to use ?

Please suggest a place to get underbody treatment and also overall paint care in Pune.

For underbody 3M anti-corrosion treatment, Deccan Honda is saying Rs.4800 (only underbody)....

I will not be using my car for over 6 months as i will be away on an assignment. Would anyone recommend that I jack up the car on all wheels ?? i have got parachute material as car covers. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Regards
