Re: DSG, demystified! All you need to know about VW's Direct-Shift Gearbox

Dear BHPians,

There are quite a few threads on performing DSG reset e.g.,

https://www.hypermiler.co.uk/gearbox...t-gearbox-auto

Steps :
1. Ignition ON
2. Keep Accelerator fully depressed for 10/20 secs.

DSG is reset.

I see quite a few videos on YouTube as well, where in owners have indicated DSG behavior improvement after performing this reset. However there seems to be no official recommendation/record on this from VAG. At least I could not find one !

Now, some of fellow T-Roc owners performed this and indicated improved behavior. But one owner faced issues after performing these steps. He is getting EPC, Airbag errors etc. The car itself is running without any issues.

Have any of you done this before ? Did you encounter any issues ? How do we help the above owner to rectify the errors ?

Please advise. Thanks.

Check/search the Octavia, Slavia threads. You will see the instruction and post reset experience.
Personally, I did it twice on my Virtus and did not see any error. Please check.

In my case, I have a bad stretch of road for 1 km starting from my home. The car learnt to hold onto lower gear (1) and would upshift on higher revs. I did the reset and it temporarily improved it/got it back. Did it twice but now I left it to learn on it's own as the road improved.

Try once to see if it helps you. Did not see any negative effect or issues.

From what I have read, researched and heard - the term is also referred to as "adaptation". Please refer to couple of these posts - here, and here.

Yes, there are quite a few "official" sources of information on how to go about doing a reset or adaptation. In my limited knowledge of the subject, the gearbox can actually start responding "better" if the process is done by an authorized dealer/workshop with right calibration settings etc.

Speaking for self, I didn't do this on my (previous car) Vento DSG, so nothing to report on the good/bad part of it.
The suggested way to rectify the errors would be to get the codes identified from a VW workshop and try to get them addressed. But then, those guys at VW will touch these tinkered gearboxes only with a barge pole.

I wouldn't think so.
'Riding' the brakes (and all other commandments) are reflective of the 'Auto', not the manual / tiptronic.

Re: DSG, demystified! All you need to know about VW's Direct-Shift Gearbox

Hey people have a query regarding DSG on my skoda kushaq 1.5

Car is may 23 manufactured and purchased in July 2, driven 3400kms.

My query is:

I face these peculiar jerking issue when up shifting from D1>D2>D3; So what happens is, the car revs to higher rpm say 2000-2200 and only when it reaches 18 kmph speed does it upshift to D2 and like wise when it reaches 25 kmph speed does it upshift to D3.

Only happens for D1 To D3 when the engine is optimally HOT.

IS THIS NORMAL? Have been using torque converters and cvt’s till now so this query as i find it very harsh to raise the engine rpm so high in traffic start stop conditions.

One important observation is that , this happens only when the car is at halting at traffic conditions, though i always shift to N when idling.

Please clear my doubts so as to enjoy my ride.

Downshifting is absolutely superb and doesn’t cause any jerking.

I tried to reset the transmission but the same peculiar issue or characteristics reappear!
