@wildon,

Any particular reason why the letters are not in alphabetical order. Is this a common practice with Ford and other car manufacturers or a way to keep the customer confused as always.

BTW how does "A" relate to 2010? Just curious. Is it coz after 9 for 2009 they have started using alphabets for years.

^^ Its a common practice with Ford. Rest of manufacturers which i done so far following alphabetic orders in which letters I (i) not included.

As a common practice Most of the manufacturers took alphabets from year 2010 onwards.

For e.g if your 11th and 12th characters are A and M you can decode this as

A= 2010
M= July

Ford changes its Monthly code on yearly basis. I'm attaching the 2010 monthly codes here.
Wow Wildon!
Thanks a lot, that was very informative. Thanks to Ghodlur as well.
So, I just need to take this with me when I go for PDI, right? Anything else, that must be checked?

Dont forget the T-BHP PDI check list which in itself is a 4-5 pager doc, you can easily make the sales guy nervous with it. Take snaps of the VIN, car so that you can start dreaming till the D-day.

For e.g if your 7th Character is G then its July.

Additionally you can find a separate placard near the front left door, right bottom (near seat) that has a 2 characters representing MONTH and YEAR for e.g GB = July 2011.

Full credit goes to fellow members Torquedo, keyur and Poitive for the findings.

Wildon, I got my car's VIN today, hurray! As desired, it's a July, 2010 Manufactured vehicle. My mum's birthday falls on 23rd of this month, plus, we got our first car on 23rd July as well.
The VIN is as follows, any more info from your side would be very helpful-
MAJ1XXMRJ1AM33535

Taking into account that my car got into transit today, how much time would it take in logistics from Chennai to Gurgaon, Haryana?

Hi, 11th and 12th digit on ford cars represents month/ year. AM is for July 10 vehicles. Please see Wildon's ford decoding table in post # 871 in this thread. It's just a guess, I think Chennai to Gurgaon should take about 5 days. But it's rainy season, so could be more. I know Chennai to Delhi Hyundai cars take about same time. Hope this helps. thanks

@Abhi

Its July month vehicle, confirmed by VIN. Ideally it should take a weeks time for the vehicle to arrive at the showroom, one day for PDI, a couple for days for registration and a day for accessories if you had bought from dealer. So by 28th July the vehicle should be in your hands. I guess it looks like the July 23rd deadline wont be met, tough luck.
