Ha Ha....Now seemingly the E-III Baleno is slower to the ton than many cars. What a shift, in switching patronage from overdrive to elsewhere.

Now whats the 0-100 time of a MPFI Esteem?

Talking about 1.6s, why doesn't anyone mention about the new age ones, like Fiesta 1.6, Aveo 1.6, Verna 1.6 & Optra Magnum 1.6?

Maybe because there aren't many owners here who've ripped them to that extent yet?

These cars are more comfort oriented then performance. Also a Verna 1.5 will be as fast as a EII Baleno.

Fiesta 1.6 is the new drivers car. (Not to be confused as a Chauffeur's car). Its a bit subdued in responses in comparison to the Ikon, but is a bit faster, stabler and most importantly still has the brilliant steering feel as in all Fords. But then paying a little more, will take you to the Cedia, which is a different ball game.

The Fiesta is so good that it is often compared to the Octavia vRS as a alternate FTD car.

As a FTD car, the Ikon beats all of them high and dry, what a fantastic engine response. Throw in a KnN and FFE and the car just is so damn impressive.

Agree with you completely - the Cedia was what I was waiting for & then I got fed up of waiting; of course, I love the Fiesta as its good VFM & an Adrenalin pumper at this price point, wish it had Airbags though

Agreed... 100%. I love the way the car handles.

How about the Lancer, in between the two? Ain't that bad a car, handling-wise! Of course, no ABS/EBD etc...

Another car that suffered from the plight of stock tyres and an anaemic engine. Then Overservoed brakes accentuated by the incompetent standard rubber. However the wheel lockup syndrome used to go away with better rubber installation.

For a car with the sporty pretentions, by way of looks and a trim level indicating sci-fi (sfx), handlingwise being probably one of the best in the business it wasn't supported by a eager engine in stock form.

Talking of 1.6, how about 'The Chevy SRV' - the latest rage in TBHP? After the price cut, is it a VFM like Baleno (after price cut)?

Great info buddy. Esteem & SX4 eat Baleno? Could you dig up the time for non-VTEC OHC? Then mods can peacefully close this thread.

Overdrive figures are mostly inconsistent (as found countless number of times). What are the times as posted by Autocar, maybe one has to dig up back issues to find the times of certain phased out cars.
