A little late to respond to this. The warranty of an OE battery will depend entirely on the car model and manufacturer concerned. It is not universal. Sometimes it is one year. Often it is two years. It all depends on how much the car maker is paying the battery maker for the battery. Warranty = quality is a function of price that is paid.

Life of a battery also depends to a large extent on the quality and robustness of the electrical design of the vehicle. Certain vehicles suffer from poor electrical designs and batteries in such vehicles last for a notoriously short period of time.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

OEM Exide battery for my Santro has lasted 5 years & 9 months so far, but has started showing signs of going weak.
I use battery operated air compressor & in last few months I haven't been able to fill air in tyres completely. Same compressor unit on other cars works in perfect condition, so it's time to change OEM battery before it goes completely dead.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My Tata 207 is now five years old and the OE battery still effortlessly cranks and engine fires to life on one tick ! I am amazed that a battery could last this long and even more amazed how the engine starts literally on one tick even after a month or so of being idle.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

In addition to frequent engine cranking, other factors which greatly influences the life of a battery are the air conditioner and the amount of time the vehicle travels with its headlights.

My Camper's battery would last for about 16 months without AC but with headlights on for about 200 kilometres per day every day. That too with a higher capacity battery of 80 AH as against the OEM 70 AH battery which went limp within the year.

3 years is a reasonable time for car battery.

Also, whether it is a Dzire or humble Alto, battery is always in AH and observe the Ampere-Hour of your old battery. Or better, look at the specification of the battery in the manual. Better ask the dealer in AH terms than say simply Dzire or Indica or some thing else.

That's too short a lifespan for a car battery.
Do you have an amplified audio setup in the car that you often used with the engine turned off?

haha no its a basic setup plus i never used it with the engine off. The battery died a couple of times at night so got it changed. Could have pulled it for another month . I have seen a lot of swift diesel batteries being changed at around the 2 year mark. A couple of friends who have cruzes had to get their batteries changed after about 2 years. too. I know its a little too early because our baleno and accent batteries lasted 5 years respectively.
