Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

Maruti 800 OE battery (Standard Furukawa) : 4.5 yrs (regular driving and charging)

Zen (Exide) : 3 yrs

We have 3 cars in family and as of now all three are on OEM battery. Here are the details:

Jan 2005 Santro - 130k km's still running on Exide OEM battery
Aug 2006 Santro - 60k km's still running on Exide OEM battery
Feb 2010 Manza - 18k km's running on Exide OEM battery

I know many members did not have good experience with Exide, but in my case they are just running fine. I ensure the water level is checked and refilled at least once in a year. All three cars are used for min 20-30 km's almost everyday so that might be the reason for long life.

Battery in Jan 2005 Santro might need to be changed this winter. If it lasts the winter then I think it should work fine till next winter.

My swift VDis battery started giving problems on the 23rd month and i got it replaced in warranty

Thank god ,otherwise i would have shelled out 9500/-

I have the habit of switching off ICE and AC before switching off engine and still battery lasted only for 23 months

The batteries on both your Santros are the ones that come with the car on purchase?!
You have been getting exceptional service!

The max. I got was : Exide, (with daily driving) on a M-800, some 70k km.

The OE Exide Freedom battery on my Cedia lasted exactly 4 months from the date of purchase.

Was replaced by Exide via Mitsubishi with a much more robust and modern looking Exide All Terrain battery

My Exide Farukawa was recommended by the MASS in Alwar. Gave me 3 years niggle free service. But after 3rd year first month, I could sense, the change in cranking sound itself.
My M800 is loaded with central locking/ avg. Music system and nothing more additional electrical gadgets.
Fetched only 350 bucks when got it replaced with Amaron, again as per the advice from MASS in Pune.

Had an Amaron on my 2005 Swift Vxi. The original battery lasted all through and its was still in a good state when I sold my car earlier this month.

Trouble free battery ownership of more than 65 months.

My Zen, a 2002 model had its first battery change in July 2010! I am not kidding! I was surprised too! The Mars guy could not believe it. I had left my car in teh basement during my Ladakh trip and after getting back, she refused to start. So yea, my OE battery lasted a good 7-8 years!

Quoting my own message! Update - OE battery of Jan'05 Santro was changed last week after 5 years and 11 months and 131k km's. Went for Amaron GO 38B20R for 2,600 after exchange.

My Swift Vxi OE battery lasted for 3 years and 5 months, run 75k kms. Replaced it with a Tata Green.

Hi,
My Aug - 2006 Baleno still runs on OE Battery - Amaron. Not the Green one. The one with Black top and white body.
1. Have not upgraded my head lamps to higher wattage bulbs, no Fog Lamps, no Amp / Subwoofer - just Pioneer CD Player with 4 speakers.
2. I drive 40 Kms a day full time AC-on and 50% of the driving with headlamps on.

Will points 1& 2 be somethinhg that supports my batter life?

My WagonR VXI 2002 model came with Exide as OEM battery and lasted 5 years and 3 months (63 months).
I changed it the day the car did not start at the first crank and did not want to take any chance.

My Civic came with a Standard Furukawa No Maintenance battery. Never did I bother looking at the battery once before it died exactly after 3 yrs of tension free first time cranks. Fetched me Rs. 350/- and replaced it with Globatt.
