Hehe, Raccoon, the operative words are 'not necessarily'.
My ongoing affair with Exide leads me to believe they are as good as they ever were!
When I get hit, I'll switch to some other brand.....that's a promise!

^^^Well, I fear after another 7.5 years, you may change to Amaron after getting "hit", but at that time who knows, good Amaron may have gone down the drain and by some divine miracle, Exide rules again.

You might still be a tad behind the times...

If each Exide has given me 5 years, must I complain?
How much are your well chosen batteries giving you?

^^^About 5 years and still going...

Exides and Amcos (OEM or bought by dad, etc... I'd not dream of buying them myself) all conked out way earlier. Worse is that the leakages caused much damage.

I know and I also mentioned that I have been luck with the piece I got, and having gone through the thread I also know that hyundai OEM's have lasted for a very good duration compared to Maruti OEM's - but still over 5 years is not the norm but an exception. And exide is capitalising only on the name it has built up over the past couple of decades.

Moreover I don't know how long I'll keep this car - it's(santro) already 7.5 yrs old, so can try a new brand as well.

Final quotes for my Swift Diesel car battery -
Battery Model MRP Final Price After Old Battery Exchange
Exide DIN65 Rs. 8300 Rs. 7800
Amaron DIN74 Rs. 9272 Rs. 8572
Base Terminal Din74 Rs. 6600 Rs. 6000

Base Terminal has 18 months replacement warranty, and then 50 months pro-rated warranty.

Guys any feedback/review on the above, I have to keep in mind that I would be selling the car in an years time

Symptoms !!!

Folks,

I was just wondering, what are the general symptoms of a battery that is about to conk off.

Looking forward for your inputs.

Cheers.

Base Terminal wins hands down. Just look at the price difference. Its a good choice even if you will be keeping the car for much longer than a year!

Btw, didn't you get a quote for Panasonic (mktd. by Base Terminal itself)?

Bubby, issue has bee discussed before. Search, please.

So after 4 years of faithful service, the Amron battery in my Palio died last week. Installed a new 55AH Bosch Silver battery.

Just returned from Khairatabad, bought myself Base Terminal DIN74 BT MF battery (70 amp) for Rs.6000 this has a 24 months replacement warranty and then next 48 months pro-rated. These guys have a toll free helpline number in case of an onroad breakdown,
I dont know why Amaron and Exide charge 8500\- plus for almost the same spec and the same warranty.
The cranking is AWESOME now, the difference is more evident when you are cranking using an almost dead battery and then with a brand new one.

My oem Exide died after 3 years, when the car was idle for a month or so. Replaced with exide itself.

My Car battery is voltage dropping to 11.5V after a day of idle. I have no cranking issues or any dim light issues.

Normally whats the voltage, measured while the battery is connected and engine is off.
