Seems weird but my Premier Padmini S1 car battery lasted for good 6 years before it conked off. It was a 6 cell Standard Furukawa battery.

Hi all,

My OEM Amaron battery in my 2005 Swift lasted for a good 4 years eventhough I have a hi-end audio install which is playing most of the time. I believe the life of a battery all depends on one's car maintenance schedule. I have replaced it with an Amaron battery with similar specification from an authorised showroom only.

OEM Exide battery in my Swift VDI lasted me 34 Months, replaced with Amaron Pro

I have a Swift VDi 2007 with OEM Exide, recently I came back from a 15 days vacation and when I cranked the car it reminded me of my dad's old premier padmini being cranked with a weak battery. After usual running its on now,

My question is how to know that its time to change the battery, or is it like that one fine morning either the car will not crank or it will with real pain with the engine not firing, or will the car suddenly die on the road due to dead battery, please help.

My Exide Freedom 55B24L battery lasted me for 5.5 years / 65,000 kms on my Versa Dx. This was an OE fitment. I replaced it today with a SF 55B24L (S) which is a 45 amp battery versus the 36 amp one I had originally. Hope it last as long as the original Exide :-)

Battery in my Indigo (Diesel) conked-off on 16Feb'10. Had got it checked recently and the mechanic told that one cell was weak, but the car was cranking in the first go, so thought will run for sometime. The battery is a factory fitted Exide and was going to complete 4 years in early March this year. The car has clocked 62k kms.

Was thinking of Amaron or Tata Green, but before I could get it, my father got it replaced. The previous one was an Exide O.E. and the new one is Standard Furukawa Sonic Jumbo JMB700 with 18 months free replacement warranty. The battery is rated 65 Ah battery and the cost was Rs.3500. I believe the O.E. battery was 60 Ah - not sure though.

Battery in my first maruti 800 lasted the whole 7 years we owned it without a glitch.The indica was a different case though.now in 7th year has undergone battery change thrice.The one in current fiesta is going fine in its 4th year.(all were exide batteries)

Exide freedom on Accent 1.6 Petrol lasted 5.5 years (had just about 40K on the odo then). Currently running on the replacement Amaron. Amaron doesn't seem to last tha long though.

Well we must be doing well here in the UK. My wife’s 1999 Hyundai Atoz still has the original battery fitted. It has just survived the cold spell of -10 c and at the moment it is 1 c so not exactly warm yet the battery just keeps on going.

Hyundai must have secretly changed it during one of the services!?
After all they are trying very hard to get to the Toyota kind of image!

Optra Royale 2006 July original battery Delco : still going strong. Haven't driven it for a month or so since purchasing a new car. Amazing battery - started on the first ignition turn when I did the weekend cleaning yesterday.
Stuff like that makes your day !

I am afraid not, the car has been serviced 100% by myself once it had passed its second year. The OE battery is an early calcium type and I will have to take a photo of it before the car goes to the great maker in the sky.

The car has lasted well all round, in fact the exhaust is original too although the car has only done 59,000 miles but considering the roads are heavily salted up here in Scotland during the winter and the short trips my wife drives, for it to last so long is quite a surprise. Other than oil and filter changes, air-con recharge once, tyres, new front disks and pads and a cam belt plus clutch change, the car is original. The clutch plate would have lasted longer if the diaphragm spring had not broken :-(

The car goes to scrap soon, not because it is falling apart but because the government and the car manufacturers are issuing a £2,100 sum off the price of a new car if you scrap your old 10 year old one. Consequently it drops the price of an i10 Comfort Automatic down to £7,000 from £9,100. We have a new Hyundai i10 Auto on order which should be with us in two weeks.
As for being like Toyota, given the very bad press around the world at the moment due to the large scale car recalls for sticking throttles, I think I will pass on that image if you do not mind..
