Why purposeful half turn? Will it do any good? Some car manuals tell you to wait 10 seconds before trying the starter another time.

Of late I have noticed sulphate accumulation in terminals which I have cleaned off couple of times and this is the only change I have noticed.
I have found applying petroleum jelly to the terminals good to keep away the deposits.

That 10 second interval will allow the battery to recoup if power output is less. But, I do the half kick to just free the engine in cold condition and I have noticed that the engine starts pretty quickly the second time.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

OEM battery in Fabia Diesel still going on after 5.5 Years .
Horn sound some times sounds weak , daily running is for around 40 plus Kms. this may be one of the reason battery is trouble free at starts.

The OE factory-fitted Exide batteries of my previous vehicles served me very well.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My OEM Amaron battery was replaced after four and a half years last month, as a check-up at MSM showed 60% life in two cells. They suggested it be replaced, as sometimes such a battery can go without any warning. I myself was uneasy with such an old battery and said ok.

It was replaced with an Amaron Glo battery, since they said the higher price for the Pro battery was only for the extra warranty.

I have a doubt. I also fitted Nippon anti-theft alarm along with the new battery. My car usage is only during week-ends for about 25 - 40 KM. Will the anti theft device consume sufficient power to drain the battery with such low running?

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My OEM Exide battery on WagonR Lxi 2007 model, i think is showing signs of dying. Giving starting problems at Traffic signals, not cranking at all. Planning to change to Amaron. Any suggestions?

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Replaced my 4 years 6 month old OE Exide with Amaron Black for 4700/-. The Exide was actually still going but the cranking to start engine was not as strong as a new battery so decided to change, lest I get stranded some place. My car has done 45k km in this period and have no other accessories except stock ICE.

My WagonR's OEM Amaron battery lasted for complete five years before getting replaced with another Amaron battery.

Exide is cheaper by few hundred rupees but I suggest to go for Amaron this time.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My honda civics exide battery lasted for around 40 months.

My Ikons battery died in 30 months.

My sierras battery lasted for 45 months.

I some how notice that there is no consistency in the battery life for any manufacturer.
I personally feel maintaining it doesnt enhance life.
