If reduced specific gravity gets restored, would that indicate that the job has got done?

Positive confirmation of a charged battery is a capacity test only. specific gravity can be manipulated.

Consider a example of a battery lying around discharged with half filled electrolyte due negligence, it can be refilled and charged to show proper specific gravity but it will not have the capacity for its size. the submerged part will be sulfated to much higher level than the portion which remained dry. only the top part will involve in the voltage generation, voltage will be there but current capacity has gone down by half.

Thanks a lot, Gigy, for the knowledge!
I'll try to work out some kind of deal to test that product before putting money down for it!

I had some horrific memory of battery problems in my Indica. It used to stop in the middle of road and doesn't start at all. What a worst battery it was!

Battery life in Skoda Laura L&K AT

Dear friends,

I want to know what is the battery life in Laura L&K AT should be expected from your past experiences?

Which is the best make and model that should be used to replace the original one supplied by Skoda?

Thanks a bunch

Most German electronics-laden cars need a new battery every 3 years (approximate). All the Merc & BMW OEM batteries in my circle have gone kaput around 36 months (or slightly less, the lowest being 2.5 years).

Even our Alto's OEM battery went kaput in 18 months even though it was Amaron. I think there is something wrong with OEM batteries in general from Maruti, may be they are built to price and slightly sub standard quality.

P.S: The car in question drives daily

Most imp way to maintain the battery is to regularly add battery water to it. My swift battery is running strong almost 2.9 months. Battery condition is excellent.

In my Wagon R, it lasted for 18 months, Esteem - I only owned it for 12 months and then I sold it, no problems with battery. For past 3.5 years, I have NHC Zx and the battery is performing excellently

Bought my Palio in March 2005. Had to replace the OEM battery in Nov. 2007. Replaced it with the same EXIDE. Now the replacement battery is also showing signs of weakness. Average life works out to be two and a half years. Planning to replace with Amaron...

Both the OE batteries [Exide] in my previous vehicles, Maruti Suzuki Omni [10 years], and then, Versa [5.5 years], were hale and hearty and kicking for more than 5 years in both the cases. At the first instances of starting trouble, I replaced them with the same brand. However, the replaced batteries of the same brand in Omni had a life of about 3 years each. But, I know, I cannot expect the same spectacular performance in the same brand in case of my present features-rich Fiat Linea.

The OE Amaron has been in my car for 2+ years. Seems to be running strong as of now!
