Is there any difference in 105D31L and 105D31R ?

I sent you a PM, please send me the contact details of the place where you got the battery.

Both are rated the same Just keep an eye on the R and L

This indicates the positive and negative polarity position of the battery R (Right) or (Left).

Check the Current battery and replace it with the correct one.

Tata Safari - Nov 2010 model - OEM battery is still fine after 4 years and 2 months but is showing signs of weakness now.

Had to jump start last week after it died on me after I used the fans and music for a couple of hours when she was parked.

Time to change. Will try Amaron I think.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Here's a question. Do you think there are different quality standards for the manufacture of OEM batteries vs same brand available in the market?

car manufacturers are notorious when it comes to squeezing vendors on cost. therefore those tiny differences that make the difference between 6 months more or not, you think they are there.

I have found this with tyres. the OEM tyres wear out about 5000-8000 kms faster than the tyres I buy from the dealer. happened with my zen 12 years ago and the business sumo about 7 years ago.

has anybody used a service like this? the exide one is called the Batmobile. that's clever.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My OEM Exide battery is running fine in my i20 - I will complete five years in April. I went to the local battery dealer for a check .

He tells me the specific gravity is fine, the voltages are fine. There seems to be a minor dip when I start the engine - according to him, the start should be a wee bit faster. I cant make out much difference though.

So I asked him whether I should be changing. "Your call", he says, and goes on to add that as long as I keep running around in the city I need not be worried ; however if I am planning a long road trip, he suggests it is better to change the battery proactively so that I can be completely risk free.

As of now I am keeping a close watch.

Hello BHPian

I think you should be lucky enough to have your OEM fiited battery for five years. I replaced my battery in 2.5 years on my Suzuki swift. The battery technician told me it is normall for a battery to last for 2 years. We had several start & stop operations on a day for first two years in the city. Any specific maintenance you did for the battery to maintain that long ?
Thanks

Hi

I really don't think it is normal for a battery to last for just 2 years. We bought our Ritz brand new in Oct 2010 and it has done close to 50,000 km now. We have not done any special maintenance (I doubt M.A.S.S. has bothered either) till now and touchwood, it still works like a charm. And for most part of its life, the Ritz has seen short city runs as in your case.

Even when we had our pre-owned Zen for 4 years, the battery never gave any trouble till we stopped using the car for months on end.

I am not talking of any fancy gel-filled batteries - just the normal variety.

Regards

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Our Figo will complete 5 years this March end.
Still on the OEM Motocraft battery.

It does seem weaker now. Starting is a little slower. I suspect it will die sometime this year.

Once a year, the terminals are cleaned, water levels checked and topped up if required and some battery protection spray is used.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Just replaced the OE battery on wifey's A-Star. The car is completing 2 years in May. Disappointed with its performance. This is the first time I am encountering a situation where the OE battery has not even lasted for 2 years.

The guy that replaced the battery now said that factory-fitted batteries hardly last for 18 months but my experience has been different so far.

You will be quite surprised when I say it is an Amaron. Yes, it is. Unfortunately, the basic one which I believe is what the factory fits. I have so far had very good experience with Amaron and have gone in for Amaron GO this time too.

Performed a small DIY battery service.

Opened up the battery and saw it had very little water.
Filled up the battery with Distilled water, Then cleaned the Terminals and sprayed some battery protector spray.

This OEM Battery is 5 years and still working.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

2010 Ford Figo 1.2 - still on OEM battery, 4.5 years till date. I am not running any after-market accessories. AC always running. I make it a point to switch off the headlamps whenever the car is stationary, try and avoid using the power windows with engine switched off, never start with AC / headlamps on.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

2011 Linea TJet (but purchased in Sep '12), lasted up to mid '14. After-market accessories: audio amps and sub-woofer. No change in headlamps, AC always on.

Changed to an Exide from an Exide outlet. Similarly spec'd Amaron did not work. Tried two different pieces.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

2012 August Polo TDI. Changed the OE Exide after 2 years, 7 months. I did not exactly die off. I started missing engine start in the first crank about two times. I realized that the end of life is nearing and did not want to be stuck somewhere on a long drive. VW Trivandrum checked and confirmed that it needed to be replaced. They quoted around 7500/- for a new battery !! I want to the Amaron dealer and got a good deal for 5100/- after exchanging the old one.

Wagon R. Purchased in 2012, and after 73,500 kms, still on stock battery.
The battery is towards its end though and may last for another 6 months max!!
