Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

OEM battery (Amaron) on my Swift lasted 5 years, approx 70k kms if I remember correctly.

The current one (Exide) is now just over 4 years with almost 28k kms run and showing signs of aging, time for a replacement.

How old is the battery in your car? Check the alternator output directly using a multi-meter, if the voltage is still below 14V, then check the belt driving the alternator, if all looks okay then its most likely a fault with the alternator.

If the cranking voltage of the battery drops below 12V then it is time for a new battery since there is no telling when the battery will go completely dead.

About 3.5yrs and 65,000 kms on my skoda rapid. It might have gone longer but I had left the car unused for about 1.5months in the beginning of the 3rd year, after which it never really recovered. Replaced with a Bosch battery, which was recommended by the service guy in place of the skoda battery

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Got a very decent life from exide.

Car: Toyota Innova Diesel - 2011
OEM Battery: Exide
Clocked: 51500 kms
Years: 4 years 10 months.

Replaced stock battery with Amron AAM-GO-00095D26L. Just provided my mobile number while browsing through battery details in amron website, they are routing to Batterywale.com. Immediately got a call(that too on Saturday 7.30pm) and placed the order, almost similar price with other online stores.
As per my request next day morning they came replaced the battery. Paid them Rs:4900.
A decent experience from Batterywale.com.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

The OEM battery (Exide freedom) doing duty on our Logan diesel in the cold winters of the north died a couple of days before completing seven years! Car only ran 50,000 km during this time and that too mostly short runs.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

After exactly four years and 54k kilometers, this morning my car refused to start though I could still use battery power to lower and raise the window glasses and the headlight was also coming on. There was no warning till yesterday.

I just went to a exide authorised dealer in the neighbourhood and replaced the original exide with a new exide. Had no time to do any market survey etc. and paid Rs. 4600. I don't know if that is okay.

Jhaji, in case you returned the old battery to the guy I consider this to be slightly to the higher side as with exchange it should be somewhere around 4K or less.

I did return the old battery to him. Looks like I have been cheated of a few hundred bucks. Thanks for letting me know. I should be careful in future.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

OEM Exide battery in my Wagon-R was changed two weeks back. So it almost completed 4 years and 10 months of duty with the odo reading 50,000 kms ! The replacement is an Amaron. Hope this lasts well too.

Cheers!

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

The OEM Varta battery in my Vento (P) was running perfectly for 4.5 years-on hindsight I should have changed it as preventive maintenance-finally gave out a few days ago, late at night. There was no viable place to park the car for the night so I had to choose the only option-flat bed to the workshop. Next morning the workshop changed the battery for an Exide, not Varta as they are now tied up with Exide. Only positive point of the experience is that the Exide battery is Made in Spain and with 2 year VW warranty. Indian Exide I believe has fallen out with this forum because of poor quality lately.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Replaced the OEM Battery on the Swift Dzire Vxi (Amaron 38B20RMF) this morning. It lasted 6 years and 10 months over 61,000Km without failing even once
Tested the battery again today at the dealership and found one cell to be weak so replaced it with a new Amaron Go 38B20R that cost ₹3100.

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

My OE battery has lasted precisely 5 years. Fiat Punto, 5 years ol and standing at 54k now, I have found one cell to be weak in a recent checkup. However, it has been running fine but I will be changing soon. As I checked, the mechanic was testing voltage with millimeter on different cells and one of the cells was almost dead as per him. The current shown was at a level of 12 and trying to understand anything about batteries for the first time, I have concluded that the mechanic should be right. I was also stranded at a petrol pump for 2 hours in the night because the car did not start, however worked smoothly since then.

Battery isn't something to take a risk on!

Re: OEM car battery life - How long did your OE battery last?

Its been exactly 5 years since I bought my Scorpio vlx 4WD. The OEM battery ( Amaron) is working fine. Starts in one go. However, I feel I should change it now as occasionally the clock resets on start-up. Better to avoid being stranded. My question is- Is there a different spec battery for the 4 WD scorpio? What specification battery should I go in for? Thanks.
