Are you sure it is the left brake caliper. I am given to understand that it is the Right brake caliper. I have also seen new (PDI) vehicles being corrected / repaired for this issue at TASS

The technical experts aka technicians/mechanics removed the front wheels, took out the brake pads, scrubbed them with sand paper and put them back on. Bleeding was an option they were considering, but suggested that I drive and test it again and come back if the issue persists.
Now though I did not get a chance to go beyond 60 kmph is the Delhi traffic, but I noticed that the acceleration is smoother. Has smoother acceleration got anything to do with what the technicians did?
Please enlighten me.

Cheers

Well my vehicle spent good 2 weeks at TML ERC Center for rectifying this issue. Seems more like a QC issue, or batch.

All the details are available at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...born-free.html

Effect of Retro

The issues/changes I am facing after the Retro fitment by TASS.

1. Decreased FE, FE has reduced by 1.5/2 km/ltr. Previously I used to get 12 in Bangalore city traffic, now it has reduced to 10.5 to 11.

2. Linear pickup, the turbo kick is linear from around 1500rpm. This makes the city driving easier, I can drive at 30Km/hr in 3rd gear without lugging the engine.

3. Low pickup. This is the main issue disturbing me now. Just after the retro, I could feel marginally loss in power. It turned out to be air filter issue at the first look, as the filter was clogged because of the quality cleaning TASS gave. Even after getting the filter fixed, I am not satisfied with the performance. I doubt it as a clutch problem as the clutch is getting harder after a short drive. It is super smooth for the initial 30min drive and after that its hard and even gear shifting is hard. I could feel the shudder in lower gears while acceleration. I need the Gurus advice here for the proper solution.

4. Water getting inside the Cabin. I came to know about this while ICEying the car. Water was getting inside through the firewall. My dealer (RF Motors) has fixed the security system wire in such a way that the rubber sealing cannot be put back in the firewall. I got it fixed but the problem still exists. I think it can also because of the door alignment. Need to get it checked again at TASS.

I am fine with point 1 & 2, but need a help for 3 and 4. Please advice as I am going for the second service next week. I am considering both Hosur road as well as Mysore road Concorde Motors for the service.

Rahul Bro, as I said in my previous post, they removed some black color steel plate from the brake pads. Will it affect anything? Should I get back the plate into the PAds?

The plate was not removed from the pads, but from the Chasis. Its called a shim, and is used for camber adjustment.

Mine is Nov2008 model, I got a call from A1 motor for the retro fit.

enginbe belt
ecu programming
door laches

According to the operater, these are the things which will be changed.

Is there anything else which needs to be replaced? seems people aren't happy after the fit, but have no other option.

Oil pressure failure checklist - Engine components list

All, please do look at this thread

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post1572449

And do let me know what are the specific engine components that I should absolutely stress at TASS to look into due to the oil pressure failure to the engine and as such vital engine components have been starved of lubrication.

The below are the same comments that I had posted in http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...2-t-bhp-6.html

The oil pressure sign coming on can be because of:
1. Pump failure (chances are less)
2. The oil pressure switch / sensor failing. The chances of this are higher. It is also possible that the wiring to the switch has come loose/ torn off. This reasoning for this is based on my earlier experience with Sierra. I also has the oil pressuire ligh, lighting up @ 11:00 PM on a lonely road and I was all panick-stricken. But since I had problems of oil leakages in this vehicle, I filled with 1L oil at the 1st petrol pump I could find and then limped home. The next day TASS analysed it as switch / sensor failure. It was changed and all was fine.

Mods: Please excuse this duplicate post. Posted twice since I was not so sure about which thread ADC will refer to seeking our replies / comments

Two queries, pl. suggest

Hi,

1. I bought my Safari in August 2009. At the time of delivery, had checked its VIN and dealer's invoice (from TML, Pune), it was sent in May 2009 from TML to the dealer.
After reading the discussion about retrofits, I am confused, whether any of those will be applicable on my Tigress too?. The dealer guys said, none is required on my car. I need opinion of all you gurus on this matter.

2. My second service is due, done 5500 kms. The vehicle has run smoothly without any major issue (engine related). On my recent long Rajasthan trip, I felt that liner power delivery has slightly reduced on return of the trip, as the odo was approaching 5k mark. Now on inspection, I find that engine oil appears dirty/ blackish in colour. Though, I have already read the earlier discussions on this forum about right time to change engine oil, as we all know the TASS guys insist that it is needed only at 15 k service. I am in a dillema before taking it for the 2nd service: should I insist on oil change (doesn't mind extra cost, for better engine life), or I shouldn't confuse with the color of oil, it is not needed before 7500 kms? In terms of kms, my 65 % driving have been highway driving.

All Pl. help me out in taking a right decision.
