Engine Oil- Castrol Magnatec..for Swift, Opel??

Hello Friends,

I have a query, I recently visited a store asking him rate for Castrol Magnetic, he said its for about 1154 something.

And when I asked him can I use it in my Opel Astra, he says you can use in any Petrol Engine.

My question is, Can I use Casrol Magnetic in my Opel Astra (Dad's Car), Opel Corsa (Dad's Car) and Maruti Suzuki Swift?

Also can someone let me know the engine oil viscosity for the three respective car's too?

Btw how is Castrol Magnetic to run? How did you guys find the oil to be?

Thanks.

I have been using Castrol Magnatec from a long time now, I found it better than normal engine oils as engine seems smoother on Magnatec. This is purely my personal opinion.
Regards,
Hari.

If all the three cars are petrol engined, you could very well use magnatec in all them.
AFAIK, Maganatec comes in 0.5L,3L, and 4L packs. Check if there's a bigger can available, you might save some cash with the "economy" pack.

Rs 1154, sounds expensive somehow, or its just that I'm outdated!

Yes I could feel the engine running smoother for my wagonR with Magnetec but I'm not sure if everyone can feel the difference.

That price (1184) was given for a 4L pack by the dealer.

Btw doesn't the engine oil viscosity matter? Castrol Magnetic support all the petrol engines?

And yes, 1154 sure sounds quite high.
Bargain 5% off the MRP.

I bought 4L Castrol Magnatec 10W40 last week for 1000.

It was stock from June 08, MRP was 1038. The dealer also had new stock from September, but it was 3.5L and MRP was around 1200. I think prices have increased.

As far as India is concerned, Castrol Magnatec comes with only API-SM/CF standard.
I wouldn't suggest using it in any turbo-charged diesel.

If Magnetec is for Rs 1000+, then why not just go in for Mobil 1, at least the change intervals could be relaxed.
