I have used Magnetec on my WagonR, time and again. Though you can feel the difference in driving when you start using it, by the time its nearing 10k kms it doesn't quite feel good.

If you recall Maruti's as it is ask for an oil change at 10k kms and by that time the car feels awful , I'd say magnetac is only marginally better than that at 9-10k kms.

Used it in the 800Dx, wrong car to test it! but Maybe it was slightly quiter [but can't say - might have been the service effect]

Everything is getting too expensive! It used to be 650 etc.!!

If you're planning to keep the VTEC for a long time, I would suggest fully synthetic for you,Shan2nu.

The VTEC is here to stay. No plans of selling it anytime soon but the prices for pure synth is insane. Moreover, i don't take part in drags and god knows when il be able to get my car for a track day so considering the kind of driving i do, i feel semi syth should be good enough for now.

My doubt was regarding oil change interval for magnatec. Any idea about that?

Stick to 5k or max push to 7.5-8.
Not more than that.

PS: Petronas Syntium 5W40 fully synthetic is about 550-600 per litre.

Ok one thing could work out. If im paying twice the price for pure synth but am able to use it for twice the duration (say 12-15K), in the long run, i end up spending the same with the added benefits of pure synth.

Whats the recomended oil change interval for pure syth?

Good. And yes, touchwood.
Any additives used ? Flushing how often ? Which oil ?

And how does the engine behave now after 180k ?

I too have been using Magnatec since the last 2 fills. Cars done 99k. I normally change oil every 5k kms. Honestly, i have found no difference in the performance at all. I'll be going back to stock Honda Oil during my next change.

Or maybe go fully synth... *scratches head*

Damn !!

I just remembered watching a vid on you tube where the technical advisor of Spoon Sports Mr. Ichishima was asked what oil should be used on a stock car thats taken for track days once in a while.

Interestingly, he said that OEM oil is infact good enough for a car that hasn't had it's engine modified.

Here it is -

Bought 3.5L Magnatec for Rs.1050. Got a sweatshirt free , which was grabbed by my Mechanic.

The GTX was for Rs.725, so its better to go for Magnatec, as its value for money and lasts for 10k km compared to 5 on other oils.
