nkrishnap,

Nice ICE setup you got. How much did JVC KW-AVX846 cost you? I'm getting JVC KW-AVX746 for Rs. 24800/- in New Delhi for my new Liva V. The stereo in Liva will be bought back by dealer for Rs.5000. Did you also look at 746?

Also which back view camera is good for JVC units?

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

@Dwarka. I paid 24000 for the 846. I suggest you pick the 846 for the kind of price you are paying.

And for the reverse camera go for any of the reputed brands. Nothing like specific for jvc.

Ask your audio guy how to integrate the gps to the head unit. JVC head unit has the nabigation option.

How is your liva doing. What sort of mileage are you getting.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

@Dwarka, firstly congrats on the car. Which color, variant are you getting by the way and whats the deal/discount that the dealer offer you.

On the trip details.

Total kms done 1231.

Best mileage - 248 kms in 9.32 litres of petrol = 26.61 kmpl
2nd best - 195.2 kms in 7.5 litres of petrol = 26.02 kmpl
Worst mileage on the trip - 354 kms in 20.6 = 17.18 kmpl (Out of the 354 kms close to 270 kms in ghats + bad roads were done)

Overall Mileage - 1231 kms in 57.35 litres = 21.46 kmpl

All done in cruising speeds of 90-100 kmph, no sudden acceleration or deceleration.

Toll paid - Rs. 15 + Rs. 15 = Rs. 30 (To and fro on the Nelamangala Highway)

Trip log coming soon and another drive also coming soon (around 1000 kms again this weekend)

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Had been really busy with work at office. Finally made some time to pend down an update.

The odo is now at 6242 kms. The car has been performing as expected. Nothing to complain about the car as of now except for one rattle which is due to some installation error during the ICE set up.

Some observations.
  • Firstly, the car has been fuel efficient and has exceeded my expectations on the mileage.
  • comfortable to cruise between 90-110 kmph, it serves 2 purposes one fuel efficiency and second any speed above this our roads are simply not good enough barring a few expressways.
  • Very nice brakes, nothing to complain, they are again better than what I had expected may be due to ABS version.
  • Spacious interiors. Would have liked it better, if Toyota kept the wheelbase of the sedan and given that bit more additional boot space to be icing on the cake.
  • handles pretty decent, suspension feels balanced, but palio/punto has really spoiled me
  • Most of the controls in the car falls perfectly into hands except for the head light leveling lever. The guy who selected that spot is ought to be fired.
  • The worst fuel efficiency I have achieved is 12.35 kmpl in city with maddening traffic (Bannerghatta road) and the best is 26.61 kmpl
  • The AC took a bit of time cooling the interior when it was parked under scorching sun in Kumta ( the temperature was around 34 degrees around noon.
  • The low beam spread is really good, the high beam could have been better. The Hella comet 500 or the Hella 700 FF is coming soon definitely before monsoons.
  • No water seepage or lizards or anything other species getting into the car due the lack of additional weather gasket.
  • Toyota should have done a bit better to keep the road noise out would have earned both the Etios siblings a few more brownie points.
This is as far as I can recollect for now.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

With another 200 odd kms and a 1000 kms trip coming up, the odo is slowly but surely inching towards the 10K mark.

Now I want to start off research for the engine oil change during the second service. The manual says the recommended oil rating grade is 5W-30. I have seen synthetic oil at the dealership which has a rating of 10W-30 which costs around 700 bucks per litre. How different is this oil from 5W-30.

Does mobile 1 come with this grade?

Would want the gurus here to help me out to get the best synthetic oil for the car. Thanks in advance!!!

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

The odo just crossed 6,500 kms yesterday evening.

Booked an appointment for Saturday at Viva Toyota (which just inaugurated a new 3S facility on the new airport road) to get the rattle checked and to get the AC filter cleaned up. Somehow feel the air flow has sort of reduced. The car has been driven in moderate to heavy dust conditions.

Will post an update on this weekend.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Finally got the car checked up for the rattle and the reduced AC effectiveness.

The rattle was due to the reverse parking sensor (housing or whatever it is called) was loose in the boot. Got it fixed with the 3M tapes and the noise is going for good now. There was one more minor rattle which the technician was able to identify, (for some reason I could not pick up the sound). Even that was proactively fixed. Good Work mate!

AC filter was pulled out and I was shocked. See the pic.

Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms-20120310034.jpg

The cream/white colored filter paper had turned completely back with good amount of soil. The filter was thoroughly clean up with air and some thing was sprayed. 15 mins later it was placed back in its place and Voila the cooling is back to its best. The air throw was back to normal as well.

The under-body was also inspected for any abnormalities, washed and cleaned the interior and exterior.

Body wash was complimentary, though I opted for a complete wash which I voluntarily asked to bill me .

Now about the Toyota A.S.S by Viva Toyota. Service advisor Ramesh Bhat, quite knowledgeable guy. He knows the vehicles very well and the other technician was also Ramesh, he too has very sharp ears and knows this quite well. I am happy about how the problems were dealt and wholeheartedly rated them 10 out of 10.

Viva Toyota now has a service facility of 100,00 sq ft. Nicely set up. I had a guided tour of the facility. Planning to shoot the Service Center and upload on Team-bhp for benefit of the forum.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Hi,

There was an issue which cropped up on the Liva. The AC Fan/Radiator fan was making a weird noise when the AC was turned on. Without AC everything was working fine.

Went for a check up at Viva Toyota. The Screw that holds the AC Fan/Radiator fan was loose and which caused the Weird noises..

By the way, the SA did mention that there was an internal bulletin to check the screw and mounts for the radiator fan. All they do is they put back the screw along with an Adhesive which will keep it in its place.

People with Etios and Liva please have this checked when you visit the Toyota A.S.S.

Note: I was not charged even a rupee for this as this was covered under warranty.
