hey guys...
i've been meaning to update this thread for a while but get caught up reading other peoples stories and get too lazy to write...
a year old on the 10th of march and the safari should hit the 15000 km mark after this tankful of gas!!!
i have to admit, driving the safari is addictive and i am so glad that i waited for this engine, as long as i did. having spent 365+ days with it - having put it through some really gruelling terrain in our famous sangla valley camping trip and driving it in delhi traffic pretty much everywhere - i have now come to the conclusion that there will now ALWAYS be one SUV at home all the time.
(it seems more and more likely that it'll pretty much always be a safari till i can rob a bank to get myself a white range rover sport HSE with black privacy glass and 19 inch wheels

)
the torque that this engine delivers in the city is simply phenomenal. once you decide to overtake or just want to start moving fairly sharpish - you plant your foot down and just steer a VERY VERY quickly accelerating 2 ton piece of metal and plastic. jeepers it can shift!!!!
the safari is thankfully rattle free and apart from an irritating squeak off the right front seat-belt harness, she continues to be as 'noise' less as when we first brought her home. she has ticked all the boxes that i wanted ticked when we picked her up...
some might argue that i am being overly exuberant, but i have owned a bullet, owned a palio, now own a safari and now (hopefully!) 5 days away from owning yet another fiat. i bat for the under dog and i'm proud of it... the funny bit is that EVERY SINGLE time, the underdog has been far from what people make it out to be.
the bullet was gorgeous, the palio was fantastic and the safari has been brilliant - period.
i agree with all the guys on the other threads that the safari tends to get beaten up on this forum because WE as the OWNERS are so VOCAL about the problems that crop up... i do not see ANY other owners being as vocal about their rides as we are.
yes the safari can develop problems, but so can a maserati!!! yes the safari is crude (in many ways) but so is the land rover...
for the price we paid for the safari, i enjoy her every time i drive her around. she turns heads and she makes me feel good. at the cost of making myself look a little silly i'm going to say, she makes me feel butch!!!!
for less than 8 lakhs (viagra excluded!!!

) try and get THAT somewhere else people!!!
i've had my rant - i'll do a bit of an update on the long term ownership later tonight.
stay safe motor-heads!!!
