Will head straight to Concorde Motors Mysore Road on Monday. I hope there is no bearing / balancing issues. Its not a good feeling to get such issues in a brand new car

Don't worry too much mate. I got a thud noise from my car whenever I applied the brake in low speeds. This happened within a week of taking the delivery. That happened to be a very minor issue with the suspension setup and was quickly resolved by the TASS. Since then, I am enjoying driving every mile in my Linea.

I hope this will be some minor issue as well - I have already had to struggle a lot with the dealer prior to delivery. In spite of owning an Indica for 6 years, I still am not comfortable with TASS. Your experience gives me some confidence

I also discovered some missing screws (which hold the interior plastic panels) and found a bolt and a nut - lying under the front seat - of which I can't trace the origin. Wondering why simple things are not taken care of during PDI. I don't think they do one.

I am hearing good feedback about Concorde Motors service in Bangalore. Hope, everything gets sorted out.

Check the plastic covers at the backside of the front seats. There are couple of screws into that. I found there were no screws in my car and I asked them to fix this during the 1st service.

I guess, should have made this thread before buying the car, asking for inputs but things went into overdrive and made the purchase.

After a long time, I thought of changing/upgrading my car. Now there are a few unique points which I needed to take care of.

- Buying a BRAND NEW car makes me a little uneasy as I stay in walled city area of Delhi, which results in parking the car ˝ km away from house. The vehicle is parked on some colony road where there is virtually NO control over small nicks and scratches.

- My average monthly run is 500-600 kms per month, which means petrol is my friend. FE is not very important but definitely decent figures are expected/desired.

- I don’t change the cars often and keep them with me for a long time, because the odo reading on my cars are quite less if time period is taken into consideration for which the car is kept. I intend to keep it for next 7 odd years.

- Budget 4L.


What I want from my car??

LOTS of cabin space

Sedan only, no hatchbacks as kids are growing up and need something
which can carry 5 people in comfort.

NO low sitting position

Great boot space

Great AC

Sturdy and Robust

Airbags, ABS, EBD and a few other gizmos (umm top end variants)

What did I buy:

I had a few options in my mind Linea, Corolla, Optra, Civic….each one had its own positives and negatives.

Eventually I picked: Fiat Linea 2009 Emotion Pk, 20000 kms done, clean car with all service records for 3.75L

As I said, stay in walled city, sourcing the parts from shady areas and of course Kashmere Gate is no problem. As far as getting A.S.S from Fiat….I am pretty confidant on how to get the work done….

I think fiat linea is the most vfm sedan to buy used (but I would go for a diesel one) ..

Dr saab, diesel options do came along but.....they had 40k+ on odo and asking price was at least 1.25 Lac plus. If i think like a lalaji....interest earned on that amount which I didn't spend feeds the monthly fuel bill of mine. Moreover, I guess it will do around 50k with me in next 7 odd years therefore diesel is not for me in my opinion.

you got a sedan that ticks all your requirements (probably except decent FE, not sure whether linea would deliver more than 9-9.5 kmpl in city) and the best part of it is - you paid ONLY 40% of the original purchase price of the car; now that is what is called a VFM deal.
it is a very solidly built car, wish you a peaceful ownership.

I am owning a Linea MJD and getting an FE of 15-17 kmpl consistently in City with 100% ACC. On highways, if driven sedately between 80-100 with 100% ACC, I get an FE of 21-23 kmpl.

My friend who is owning T-Jet get 11-12 kmpl in Chennai City.

I don't believe this was a good call. The Linea is not exactly a roomy car in terms of passenger space. The car that has the most comfortable seats in the Linea's segment and with room to spare is the Suzuki SX4 followed by the Tata Manza.

The Toyota Corolla is a beautiful car and belongs in another segment. Costs a good 7 lacs over the Fiat Linea too.

However, going by what you paid for the Linea, it is absolute bang for the buck.

Is this the 1.4 FIRE? If so, you should again get 11-13 kmpl based on the traffic conditions.

Linea is a great car. You will never have any regrets about it. I am telling this as a owner. Linea doesn't have great rear space like SX4 or Tata Manza or Tata Venture . But, note that the space alone will not transform a car to a comfortable ride.

In my 3 week old, LINEA (MJD) I am currently getting FE of 12.2 after 600km.

And I do understand that for initial few 100 or few K km it will not be good to judge the FE, but what should be the time or km when I can consider the FE to be true.

In my case, the FE is more or less consistent from Day 1 of my ownership. Any how, I would say that you can take the FE after your first service. Again, note that FE depends on lots of factors including the driving style. What is the temperature that you set in your ACC?
