Thanks GTO for the excellent reviews you give us. One question I still have is - what is the top speed of Jazz?

Regarding the comments made by Greenhorn my point of view -> GTO had clearly mentioned that the car is not value for money. The review was about a very good product and its features - the pricing was a too steep. If the price was between 5 and 6 lakhs, I believe the review of features and performance would still be the same and additionally it would become VFM.

Nice review. Pictures are detailed enough. There is no need for a showroom visit except for a test drive. Was waiting for this review to decide between I20 and Jazz. So it's the I20. Jazz's side profile reminds me of Renault espace. too much attention to creating space. Only thing i would like to know is whether I20's ride is more comfortable than that of the Jazz. Another hot thread. Just forwarded this to a friend waiting for Jazz release.

@GTO,
nice review.

It seems that,

gaddi thik thaak hai lekin daam zyadaa hai.

I had stopped my friend to buy car untill launch of Jazz but looking at pricing, it is not value for money.
I will not recommend this car to my friend.

ACI says this :

Priced at Rs 6.98 lakh, Rs 7.28 lakh and Rs 7.33 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi for the Jazz, Jazz Mode and Jazz Active respectively), the Jazz is not cheap, especially for a hatch. But what you get is something unique – a classy, well thought out and engineered car, with Honda quality and plenty of clever bits thrown in. Then there is the brilliant packaging, the promise of great fuel economy and reliability and the fact that this car gives you that big car feel. If you are looking for an entry saloon or pure driving pleasure the Jazz is not the car for you. It’s a much smarter, more stylish and better packaged alternative.

Is it just me, or does the rear end of the Jazz look an aweful lot like the Innova's ?

Even from the rear three quarters, it look pretty similar!

Haven't seen it in real life, just the way it looks from the pics in the first post.

Boot space and the magic seats seem to be good. But 10 cup holders? What do you think Honda, we're Americans ? :P

haha,
10 cup holders for americans,
and pricing is also for americans.
Looking at size of jazz, is it small car? it is hatchback and more like station wagon in tune with indigo marina.

Honda has yet to learn how to do business in India with small cars.

It is now upto to the customer to find the value of the product. my guess is that this car will sell well at this price point. i am not saying that this will beat the ANHC sales, but it may equate to sales of i20 and punto and beat the fabia sales
60:40 split seats have been there for eon's.. the only thing special abt the magic seats in the way the seat base folds up. Proves again how easily we give in to marketing speak/hype.

Very well written review. The car looks big in the pictures but that might not be the case once seen in the flesh. I liked the space inside, not to mention the storage spaces and looks like the Civic inspired steering wheels is making its way across the model range. The price however is a real downer. I thought the i20 was insanely overpriced but after the Jazz pricing, I dont think the top end i20 is so bad after all.

Waiting to see how it fares in the market.

That's a pretty through review GTO. I am not too thrilled about the looks and however tempted I am to offer my 2 cents on the pricing I think I would like to remind myself that most folks here including me had to eat humble pie after similar comments about outrageous pricing on the AHNC and doomsday for Honda scenarios.

So there is no telling, Honda could get away with it and by pricing it so high and limiting its availability Jazz automatically get's that exclusive premium tag so may folks seem to crave more than the car itself.

Good review

Nice review there GTO; detailed and well covered. Pics are nice too and illustrate very well..

Hoping you'd also get an invite to cover the launch of Fiat GP.

The car looks fabulous as like all Honda.

But yes, it has a big price tag.

IMO, it will be a hit amongst collegians & executives for city driving.

Everything good except the engine and price. Instead of the 1.2L engine, they could have put a 1.4L engine and price it at 7.2L. That would have attracted buyers who are looking for power along with this good package. Customers who are ready to pay 7L for a hatchback will neglect the small FE advantage the 1.2L gives.

And, what Honda was thinking when pricing Jazz may be: "if a manufacturer like Hyundai can price its i20 at such a premium, why can't Honda price Jazz at these levels?"
