No you don't need to press the clutch to start the car. I didn't know that the manual says so but I guess this point was not changed from the international one. I wonder why companies don't make that feature standard across cars. I am sure it's not that costly to have.

What feature? preventing cranking if the gear is engaged?
I am not sure but Getz is having this feature?

I always press clutch while cranking, it has become a habit.

Maybe the manual advises the driver to press the clutch fully before cranking up the starter. It is a good habbit to do so... does not put load on the transmission and engine while starting up. I have been doing so since the past couple of years. This is unlike the Getz where the car does not start up unless you engage the clutch pedal fully at startup. A good feature that was.

P.S - Congrats on the Punto ms001. Details please...

Yesterday I visited a Maruti Dealer with a friend. I was aghast to see their official driver abuse a new pre-delivery Wagon R by cranking in gear without pressing the clutch. First time when he did it I thought it was by mistake. Then I noticed that he deliberately did so again and again. This cruel act would not take place if one could not crank without the clutch being pressed.

Latest mileage figures:

MID: 20.30 Kmpl.
Manual: 18.95Kmpl
Error rate: 7.12%

I was getting a bit irritated as I wanted the mileage to get into 19kmpl figures. It's finally starting to creep towards that figure. In share market terms, there seems to be some resistance at 19kmpl levels .

I also need some help. How do I get back to wanting to drive the SX4?

Folks, I have recieved a quote of Rs.1,500 for Llumar sunfilms for windows and rear windsheild including labour. It's for the SR-35 Platinum series. I am swinging between Llumar and 3M. Dealer says 3M's 35 series is darker. Question is are the prices correct? It was at a reputed and trusted shop at Sector 17 Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

i would say if you are not going for front windshield sun film, them install a premium film on sides and back, it makes a huge difference to the overall AC effectiveness.
I am using 3m CS20 , satisfied with it.
Cost including labour Rs3300/-.
genuine 3m has 3m holograms/logo on the film which can be seen from inside

Hi Amit,

Since you are getting such a fantastic average, can you tell me what is your daily commute like? As in what avg speed / gears..

I drive from Pune Camp to Hinjewadi during peak traffic and I'm mostly in 1st or 2nd and a little in 3rd - rarely being able to cross 45. Mostly stop and go traffic till I reach Baner. In such conditions i get just about 13kmpl.
