Just saw this article in the Industry updates.

TOYOTA FORTUNER A SELL-OUT; BOOKINGS CLOSED FOR 7 MONTHS
Shweta Bhanot
The Financial Express (Web & Print Edition)

Mumbai: Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited has closed bookings for the next seven months for its newly launched sports utility vehicle (SUV) Fortuner. The SUV has already built up a backlog, with 3,100 orders booked in.

“We have told dealers not to take any more orders from customers for the next seven months, as we already have 3,100 orders in hand and there is a waiting period,” said Sandeep Singh, marketing deputy managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
He, however, added that the company is taking down names of interested customers and is ramping up production of the SUV to meet the demand. ........

A way to manage demand. However, this is a double edged sword. People wishing to buy from tomorrow will be turned away and perhaps they will turn towards the competition.
In 7 months time, demand may soon match supply.

Sad news. I was hoping to get my Fortuner before mid Sept. Cash flow !@#$%%&^&

But there will always be "ways" to get it on priority, should start working on it ! LOL

Off Topic : Any ideas on the prices of Pajero being slashed ? The facelifted Endy will definately benifit from this booking closure / waiting period of the Fortuner.

Cheers

Toyota, in their wildest of dreams would not have thought of this. I think this should be enough of a hint for other car manufactures that what type of success awaits you in this segment if you do most of the things right.

We should expect some major changes from the likes of Suzuki, Honda, Mitsubishi, Skoda, VW and Hyundai in coming 6-12 months.

Truly, all these car manufacturers should thank India for their business and they should pay back our people by bringing latest models by revving up manufacturing abilities right here in India and not the obsolete ones.

Saw a silver one on road, did not look as imposing as the Endy. pretty plain jane too.
Toyota's reputation is/will drive sales. Otherwise, I find it a little overated or maybe its the initial euphoria.

Congrats rijo_tj, your dad going to have a great time with this car, will he be using it for offroad also? White looks real good. Is the front guard easily removable? One thing I don't like that is chrome on tail and front lights. I would never let them put so much chrome. Instead would get the side claddings.

Post some interiors pics too.

He will be using for Offroad also which is precise the reason he was looking for the Fortuner for the past three years. The front guard is removable without any fuss. I agree with you on the cladding part on the tail light ( nothing on the front lights though) , which was a direct consequence of me being not there. Guess the first thing i would do when i get my hands on it would be to remove those claddings.

Here comes the interior pics....

The pictures are not going to be quite detailed as one would like. These are just first pictures sent by my dad to me as soon as he got his hand on it.

Here are couple more of the interior pictures. I agree that the interior was a bit letdown , but happy with the overall package. Three years in the waiting for this one helluva SUV. Phew !!!!!!
