i know one of my frineds getting Honda city as gift since he rejected dowry so may be i think you got engaged and getting Punto as gift :D

Hey Sid! Congratulations ! welcome to the club. Well! you choose WHY NOT against WHY a Punto because you eventually fell for it.

Congratulations sid for owning a Punto. I dont think its a matter of heart that one buys punto now. Its a VFM product which has good looks, safe and top of the line features.

Congrats Sid! Knowing your love for Punto (from your jazz thread), it was only a matter of time i guess.
Happy motoring with your new gf!

sid, congratulations. How come you just couldn't wait for the 90bhp version? So impatient? Now the plot really thickens :) You have eager audience waiting to grab the sound bites :)

Now why did not I purchase that siena?

Simply because I do not want from pillar to post in need for critical spare parts and moreover, that 1.6 motor meant huge petrol bills and I did not want to bite more than I could chew.

Case closed.

Then I thought should I go for finance or wait and save some money and then buy the car?

Other options-should I use public transport and metro?
Answer was a big no. Daily push and pull and poorly managed system was a major turn off for me. While in Delhi, PBTS does have decent fleet and concept, it is badly let down by execution.

Then a phone call from Bhopal:

Its my mother's sister, working in SBI for the past 25 years there, in fact she helped me in financing the car for 5 years at low interest rate and without processing fees.

So, the money I had, plus the finance, finally I had the resources to buy the new car.

Criteria:So, got a call from urmil motors to come and see the 2010 models, went there and had a thorough look at it. White was my only colour of choice due to low maintenance issues and visibility factors at night etc. They had 3 white punto emotion packs on stock and all freshly arrived. I told them to keep one for me on hold.

Mid January, 2010, me and my dad went there, and he completed all the necessary paperwork, and I was doing my own PDI and in he afternoon, the car is finally with us.

Yes, I did criticize Fiat for quality niggles but this time I thought that let me give them a chance. Let me experience what it takes to own and drive a Fiat and now going by feedback about improved sales and A.S.S., seemed worth it.

Besides, urmil's workshop infrastructure seemed one of the best I have ever seen and I hope that their service standard will be world class as well.

The number, 7007 is ready and the plate will arrive on Sunday.

Time to go on a bold new drive. Because, is often said that admiration guaranteed in this one life. So, why so serious?

Nice one! Keep updating us with the F.E figures and how many girlfriends you attract with your Punto.lol:

I recall someone at Fiat told me this:

" For the love of motoring.
Every car with the Fiat marquee has been designed to move you.
Be it the body lines that exude Italian craftsmanship.
The sweep of the windshield that carves the wind.
The thunk of those vault like doors that ensure safety.
Or the gentle thrum of the engine that competes with the wind.
These are cars that are infused with technology but go far beyond it.
Because beyond technology its art again."

Because Man meets machine

When other kids played in the park,
I was busy cycling down unknown roads.
Looking for Indiana Jones.
Looking for James Bond.
Looking for Punto.
Until I Discovered where it lives.
In my mind.

I Watch out. As Fiat unleashes the wild beast.
The Punto.
It looks wild.
Brash. Bold. Laden with attitude.
It appeals to my eyes.
It digs into my skin. And enters my system.
After all, the punto's got to be in my blood.

Muscles meets mettle.

I discover a new shortcut home.
Demystify traffic jams.
Rule the urban jungle.
To prowl the urban jungle comes the city beast.
The punto.
Its muscular upper body stands high on firm, tall legs.
Convectionally known as tyres.

To be continued...

Tough meats easy.

I don't go stiff on the trip.
Roads are easy.
I try not to be hard on myself.
Life is easy.

I discover a light side as I explore the heavy beast.
Enter the Luxurious ambiance.
Reach out to the metallic dashboard that puts everything within my reach.
Power steer the robust steering.
Check out the electrically adjustable door mirrors.
And the auto climate control with a split personality.
I have the option of turning the air conditioner to a heater.
stretch on the generous front seats.
Sink into the comfort of its exotic coat.
Conventionally known as upholstery.

Adrenalin meets acceleration.

Life.
Is fast.
Heart.
Is wild.
Roads.
Are blurred.
I.
Am on a power trip.

The Punto's chest swells with pride.
It holds the world renowned MULTIJET 1248 cc 16 valve DOHC engine.
197 NM torque.
It empowers the Punto with a bhp of 76.
Extremely driveable on rugged roads.
The punto can get its nose ahead up to a whopping 170-175 kmph.
I use its spacious body.
It swallows an enormous amount of luggage.
There are no complaints.
There's no loss of power and torque.
Complete credit to its dynamic heart.
Conventionally known as the engine.

To be continued..

Thrills met wheels.

chase wind.
chase wonder.
chase reality.
chase fantasy.
chase thrills.

If I am seeking thrills, I seek a punto.
Its packed with thrilling little gizmos.
Blue and Me.
My car settings.
Trip computer.
fuel consumption, average speed, distance to empty display.
wild alloy wheels.
auto climate control.
tilt steering and a height adjustable driver seat.

To add to the thrills,
there's that phenomenal voice. With bluetooth connectivity. and a USB port.
conventionally known as the music system

Danger meets safety.

No fear.
no jitters.
no mental blocks.
no danger.
To interrupt my bold new drive.

The punto knows where to go wild.
The punto knows where to stop.
And I am not just talking about the mind blowing brakes.
Its equipped with ABS and EBD to stop your senses from skidding.
Its sense of stability and ground clearance are difficult to beat.
It stands 170 mm clear of its lowest point.

Couple this with its sure footed behaviour,
and I have a wild road runner.
The beast's safety cage is armed with Fire prevention system.
Crash protection.
Anti submarine seats.
Fog lamps. rear wiper with wash/ wipe and defogger.
Mercury drop headlights.
Over and above, the third eye.
Conventionally known as the third stop lamp.
Down and below, the preventive fourth eye.
Conventionally known as the rear fog lamp.
A cushion that protects the body from injuries by inflating in milliseconds.
Conventionally known as dual stage airbags.

So, while I end my story here,
Its time for me to enjoy my bold new drive.

Convectionally known as Fiat Grande Punto.

Just like the Fiat 1100 which had a Great History and has a Great Future as predicted, I hope Fiat Punto too Has a Great Future.:thumbs up

Hey Sid, Was this poem your own creation or did you copy it somewhere from web? If it your own, I bow my head before you. You truly love your Punto to come out with such wonderful verses

I have been owning a Punto for the past three months and have clocked 6000 kms on it. I particularly liked the lines below because I am alive today with my family just because of the Punto. I have a couple of close calls on my highway drives and would have been curtains for me in my old Santro. The Punto came to a complete halt from 120 to 0 within maybe 10 to 20 meters (I think) with absolutely no skid when needed the most.
