Nice thread Nick. For people who have been a part of chennai and have drifted away, this thread will definitely rekindle memories (and leave some confused with new buildings and roads that have come up).

Elliot's beach looks calm and serene. Was staying nearby when i moved to chennai and my cousin and I used to spend late nights/early mornings on the beach after we returned from work.

Thanx to all for your appreciation. I got some more pics. I plan to take some new pics too, and add to this thread.

Nice pics....It remembers me the days I was in chennai. Chennai has changed a lot.
Especially the Tidel Park road where my office was.....i still remember the traffic chaos at the Madhya kailash junction

If you thought the chaos is gone, you are mistaken. There still are jams just before MK, inspite of the 6-lane IT corridor, which is not surprising given that the Sardar Patel road into which all this traffic pours in, still remains the narrow road it was. Also because they do not allow a right turn to Adyar - so everyone has to go to IIT and take a U-turn there.

@nickatnite, one suggestion. Would be useful to have the name of the place alongside each picture so that we know which location it is. Longtime Chennai-ites like me can make out most of the places, but it would be helpful for others.
Very commendable effort otherwise.

BTW, the free run on the IT corridor is coming to an end soon. Work has started on the toll-booth opposite Cenza and soon we will need to shell out money to use the road.

Somehow Chennai looks a lot less crowded in the fotos when compared to Bangalore... Probably he's not been to Pondy Bazaar, Vadapalani, North Chennai (Mint, Royapuram etc) :-)

Surprising, no Marina Beach fotos. Lot of nice places there to fotograph.

Yeah!! It definately looks a lot less crowded. All in all, its total chennai darshan. Love the city for its wide roads.

Very nice pics!! Even though I have lived here for so many years I still can't fully identify some of the places!! Now all I need a way to send these pics to some of my homesick cousins out in Australia. Guess I will just ask them to see this forum.

Go ahead and copy the pics and send it to them. I have no problems with that. That's the reason i'm sharing the pics here.

More Chennai pics. The reason for sparse traffic in the pics is 'cause i took these pics on weekends.
