Truely fantastic log I wish to compliment all the contributers to this thread. sooper pictures and awesome read.
Alas my work gives me only a December break and i know it is not as good a time to visit any WLS especially for tiger spotting. In the past I have visited Jim Corbett National park once and Bharatpur Bird sanctuary a couple of times. In corbett in summer I have been lucky to see the big cat from atop an elephant.
cheers!!

Thank you sir. Dec is dream time to come to Pench.
The trick of spotting a tiger is not to come to a park to see one.
Come with an open mind to enjoy the entire forest and forget about the Tiger - take my word , you will go back with a much richer experience.

Continuing this weekend's sightings, here are some more.........

The restless one

Tadoba this season and especially these cubs are blowing away every myth about monsoons not being good time for tiger spotting.

wow Dr. This is close. too close may be brrrryyyyhh.
The third and the fourth picture are spine chilling, got goose bumps all over my body.
If they come this close i guess then no need of a high zoom DSLR, my P&S might do justice too. just kidding, not having a DSLR is one of the deterrent for me not venturing in the forests, may be high time I start saving for the December deadline then.
cheers!!

You will have no reason to worry if you remain inside the vehicle and don't provoke the animal.

Thanks.

All these good photographs have been possible only because of some very capable offroad driving in some very difficult offroad conditions inside the forest and the superb offroad capability of the Gypsy.

Check out the conditions here :

All this enabled us to shoot this and more.......

Happy "World Photography Day" to all

Long billed Vulture from Pench - Very few of these left
‘THE COLD STARE’ - I always heard about it, read about it. Now I know it - up close-img_2470.jpg

Endangered Tigers from Tadoba
‘THE COLD STARE’ - I always heard about it, read about it. Now I know it - up close-u-me-ti-.jpg

I was reading about how countless species are being pushed toward extinction by man's destruction of forests. Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

Let this thread and the others continue to spread the message of biodiversity conservation through the wonderful medium of wildlife photography.

Great pictures Dr. Ghosh. The "restless one" is very nice and well captured.

What weapon are you using for these shots?

This is where the vehicles were getting stuck near the cubs

‘THE COLD STARE’ - I always heard about it, read about it. Now I know it - up close-3-cus-i-mud.jpg

‘THE COLD STARE’ - I always heard about it, read about it. Now I know it - up close-stuk.jpg

There were moments when the guys had to get down and push out gypsies out of the sush and at the same time keep a watch over the cubs from the corner of the eyes

I am leaving for Meghat Tiger reserve shorty and hopefully will be back with some great ladscape shots.

regards,
Dr. A Ghosh

The Melghat trip was exceptional in terms of landscape, insect & reptile photography apart from photography of the almighty at night. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ml#post2047476

Hi, Dr. Ghosh..This was great reading. Particularly since I also had the idea it won't be worth to go to Tadoba during the rains. I went there in this firey summer..boy! what a temperature it was. But then rewarded by fantastic experience in the jungle. Took a lot of pictures of the tiger and lots of birds. In fact this year only I have started roaming the jungles...Ranthambore twice, Bandhavgarh Corbett and Tadoba. This Winter I am reserving for Birding through the Rann of Kutch..and if time permits Gir.
