MNandy & MC, with you both. You wouldnt believe the amount of research that went into making this purchase. Ultimately, if i went in for an SLR, i wanted something that can pack a real punch, like the one Abheek has or atleast an entry level like the EOS 550D, throw in the HDMI feature. Now that was not working easy on the pocket . So decided to go in for a P&S and have started saving for the real deal for a later day.

We superzoomers know that we are not going to get the same quality as a real DSLR. For me, at least (old generation: 12* only!) it is academic as 99% of the time I am looking at my pics on a computer screen anyway. Whatever the sensor, there is no way that these superzoom lenses are going to give the same results as the fixed or shorter range lenses from the same company. I doubt that it is economically feasible, at this time, to make super-zoom lenses with pro standard optics for DSLRs. If it was, I guess they'd be doing it.

So there's a market for these superzoom cameras. It includes me for a start!

MNandy

I have a Sony Alpha 350 with 2 lenses (18-70mm & 75-300mm Gold) and have been thinking of picking up a 500mm for birding. How do you find the Sony 500mm reflex lens? I havent seen this lens from anyone else hence wondering.

Regards,
Rishi
