I have seen all kinds of weird tire sizes on Swift with stock rims...
Most of them are all show and no go...

Since the stock rims are 5j(width) the best upsize for Swift on stock rims would be 185/70-14..

195/65-14 is not recommended on 5j rims, u need minimum 5.5j.. 5j may or may not work well(depends on various parameters of the car) and if doesn't work well the handling characteristics of the car will go for a toss...
Since u are diesel torquaholic head i don't think it would be a good idea...

1. Almost 3% difference in circumference.
2. Speedo error.
3. GC reduces by almost a cm.
4. What are the good tire options in that size?? I think only ES100 is available.

What do u mean by quite old???are u referring to the tread pattern or that its not a good tyre anymore?I have read in the forums that bridgestone has sidewall bulging problems now.

regarding ES100 i would not suggest to go for it as it is quiet old.
Bridgestones are good but wear out early.
I would suggest you to go for XM1+ 195/65 r14.

I've seen the local Maruti Service guy using 195/65/14 in his VDi, he is using stock alloys seen in the Swift Zxi.

I asked him if there is any issues and he said its running fine.
He does long drives and said did't face any issues.

He also advised its better to go for the stock alloys.

But you guys are correct 195 does need 5.5

I'm not the expert but
just FYI...!

195 on ZXI stock alloys is ok, even Jaggu is using it on his VDI AFAIK.
He is asking about 195 on stock steel rims.

And I thought spacers were used to stop the wheel arches from scrapping the tyres.

No, don't even go there. You don't know how well engineered the spacers are & what effect they are going to have on your car's handling. And making them give a broader look will almost certainly mean your tyres at the rear could be scraping the arches in bumps. Not recommended at all.

IIRC stock alloys are 5.5J & hence there is no problem with 195's on them.

hi iraghava,

thanks for the reply to the post... "doesnt 195 need 6.0 ....?"

yesterday i went to tyre market to look for rims... and all of the rims in 14" size were 6.0J size.

i'm putting 195/65/R14 Yoko A.Drive on my swift vdi (ABS)

which is the optimum size for the above tire size? 5.5J or 6.0J ???

will the tyre upgrade affect the functioning of ABS ?

thanks.
