Nisarg86: 205/50-15 is a wrong upsize for Swift and there will be substantial decrease in GC.
Get 205/55-15 or 195/60-15.

Thanx s0uljah & kpzen. I will go with 205/55-15. I m thinking to change the tyres on the day1 itself. so i can the maximum buyback offer. Tyre dealer quoted me 1700 Rs for OEM tyre. is it a wise thing to do ?

The rim sizes are different for VXi and ZXi. The manual says 14x5½ JJ for 185 and 14x5J for 165 tyres. But then may be 5J can take the 185 size.

Rippergeo ZXI has alloy wheels of different width. Are you using 185/70 on stock steel wheels?

yes on stock steel rims thats the largest(185/70) I can use.
if I had the Zxi alloys, I'd be using 195s.

Prince, 205/55 R15 is fine, it won't foul with the arches.
You're decreasing the overall diamater (OD) by 1.3%, which is well within permissible limits.

But... if you're really driving on bad roads, then maybe the same rim (15") with a slightly narrower Tyre (195) and a slightly taller profile (60) would have been the better choice. In fact, 195/60 R15 is actually the best upsize for the car since it's only a difference of 0.81% to the overall diameter of the rim of the VXi, and is the same OD as the ZXi.

Avoid deep ruts and potholes like the plague, and you should be fine. Your PSI should be between 28 and 30. Get a good tyre pressure gauge and choose a setting within 28 and 30 that works for you.

Btw... the fatter rubber is going to reduce your fuel economy.

Hey, it's not just the tyre size, you'll need to take into consideration the offset of your 15" mags. wrong offset can have adverse effects on your suspension. I too am running my Swift on 205/55-R15, Mileage has dropped by about 1Kmpl No problems otherwise.

It would be great if someone could walk me through the possible options and also the approx pricing. I'm looking to upgrade to 185/70 R 14's.

The gurus say that Michelin MXV-8 is a great tyre.
Michelin MXV-8 should cost you 4400/tyre
Yokohama ES100 should be around 3500

Jakky,

Go for the Yokohama A-Drives. I just had these fitted to my new Swift two weeks ago with 15" rims.
The Michelin MXV8s are great, but a little pricier than the Yokohamas for no major benefits. Don't get the Pilot Precedas, because quite a few people on this board (including a couple of tyre gurus) have had problems with bulges and tears.

The Yokohamas are great, they're very comfortable, and I get virtually no road noise. You'll really like the experience.

I paid 3900 per tyre, and got 1,000 back for my stock tyres (which were brand new), so I paid a net of 2900 per tyre.
