Hey people,

The guys at Capital Honda, Pondicherry are also saying that changing tyre size from OEM size will lead to voiding of the car's warranty.

Do we have anyone here who has bought a City from Capital Honda, anywhere and has got them to honour warranty despite tyre size change?

Hi Everyone

Upsized all 5 tyres for my newly minted VX CVT over the weekend to 195/60 R15. Opted for Primacy 3ST. Expensive at 5800 a pop but it helped having Michelins as stock. Cant really tell the difference as the tyres were changed within hours of taking delivery. The dealer told me that 3STs are now much more reliable then the LCs and are any day better than XM2. The price difference between the two Rs. 200.

Post the upgrades does the tyre pressure need to remain the same as prescribed or it needs to change. A bit confused here.

I have a query for all who have upgraded to 3st on stock alloys. I felt looking at the pictures the tyre sidewalls were protruding out of the alloy which is just 5.5j. So does this negatively effect handling , also what is the psi that has to be maintained.

You can continue to maintain the recommended tyre pressure by Honda for stock tyres

I upgraded from steel wheels to 6.5J alloys and 195/60R15 P3ST

I havent changed the stock rims and have upgraded to P3ST 195 60R15. Hope this doesnt negatively impact ride, stability, handling etc. Please help with inputs.

Nikhil can comment here but we have lot of owners who have upgraded the tyres on stock alloys and there does not seem to be any issue. vsrivatsa is pretty happy with the way his car is handling with the 195/60R15 XM2 on stock alloys.

Thanks for the input neel. I just felt the 3st balloons out of the rim more than xm2. If there are no issues in handling 3st are any day better.

In saudiarabia, 185/55R16 83H is the stock tyres on EX version and 175/65R15 84T on DX and LX variants.

I am also looking to get 16" rims on the City. Someone mentioned "It might also cause problems with the ABS sensors. Better to stick with stock rim size and upgrade the tyres only."

Can the experts throw more light on this? Is it safe to upgrade the rims to 16"? What would be the changes in ride quality because of this change?

Hi friends and Experts,

I am booking a Honda I-Dtec VX model this monday and am planning a tyre upsize as soon as I get the delivery. Can you please help me answer these questions.

1) Will i be able to do a 195/65 R15 Upsize on Stock alloy wheels ?
2) Will it improve the ground clearence of the car ?
3) Will it adversely effect the mileage of the car ?
4) If not 195/65 R15 then which one is a better recommended specification ?
5) I am opting for continental Premium contact 2. Have had an excellent experience with them. Recommendations welcomed?

195/65 R15 and 195/60 R15 . Out of the two, Which one will improve the Ground clearance of the Honda City ?

The 195/65 R15 means 195 mm of tire width, and the side profile or side wall will be 65% of 195mm which is about 127 mm. R15 is of course a radius of 15 inches of the rim. Hence, to answer your question on ground clearance, 195/65 will be better than 195/60

However, I think 195/60 will be a better upsize for the City. I believe that the breaker scrapping problem with the previous gen city is now addressed.

Correct. After upsizing to 195/60R15 Michelin P3ST and ensuring the tyre pressure is maintained, I've not scraped the bottom yet while driving through the horrendous Bangalore roads full of potholes which deserve some Guinness Book of Records like award . This is with at times 4 adult passengers in car.
