@Shuvc,
My Spare tire is also F1 GSD3... When I have a Puncture I'll get it fixed with in next 10-12Kms of driving. 90% of my driving is in and around city so I don't see any problem there even If I fix the tire in the wrong direction.

Inputs for wheel size to choose on..

Hey folks, am heading this weekend to change the OE rims on my baleno to alloys.
I generally use the car for long drives and city driving is almost min.
I know this topic has been extensively discussed on this thread but still,
have a few questions here would be great if all you guys gave your valuable inputs !!

1 - Do I stick to the 13" OE wheel size and pick mags of the same dia' or upsize to 14" .
( I know 14" are standard OE size on the VXI)
2 - If an upsize to 14" is recommended what are the pro's and con's.
(this question is meaningless since VXI's come with 14" wheels but need your opinion guys)

Have managed to zero down on 2 brands of alloys , Lenso and League.
League is pretty cheap, good designs and have it installed on my Alto , never had a single problem.
Lenso is on the expensive side, but yes I liked a couple of designs.

Thanks in advance guys.

What are you going to do with your old tires?? 14" is a good upgrade as you know I have 15" on my lady..
If you are switching to 14" then go for 195/60 R14 performance tires.

Again depends on what tires you are going to put on your 14" rims...

@Rjstyles
Check out our Samurai's gallery, Man those alloys look great
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indiancarpicture-75.html,
14" + 195/60 R14 is the best combo and TBHP's Suggestion All the time.
If you ask me I'm happy with my 15" + 195/55 R15 GSD3's have done more than 2500 Kms till date in 1 and half month... I think U forgot to post the Pics that you took on Bangy meet. Goodyear Eagle F1's or Bridgestone Potenza, let us know what you selected.

RJ - I would recommend 195/60 R14's on 5.5Jx14 rims for your car. They are a very good compromise between Comfort & Performance.

As for tyres you have various options like: Potenza GIII, Michelin Energy/Preceda, Goodyear Eagle etc.

In that case go for 15" and 205s , since it seems you like really big and wide wheels.

However, 195/60 14 F1's work wonderfully for me.

Thanks for the prompt reply folks. I will stick to 14" and some wide tyres.
Hopefully my finances allows me to get this done by this weekend.

Not sure of Goodyear's per se but good tyres in that size cost around 3100-3500 per piece.

GCD3 ?? Don't recall that nomenclature. You're sure they are not Eagle F1 GSD3 ?

Sorry mate was a typo. You are right its GSD.

Dealer mentioned GSD3's are not available on 14" tyres. Shuvc you have made a mention of this on post # 95.
My choice being 14" , dealer suggested that the only GSD2 would be available at this size.

Just called 2 other shops around bangalore and quoted prices are around the same as the dealer from where I plan to get the install done.

GSD2 -- 3400/- per piece
League alloys (LG 209) -- 3500/- per piece.

Dealer has asked me to stay away from the GSD2 since it generates a lot of noise.Any testimonials on the usage of GSD2's??

So whats my next choice if I rule out GSD2's ??

He's bang on with the noise issue, I've highlighted this many times too (I ran a set a year back) and was very dissatisfied with the performance of the tyres.

I would recommend you look at the following:

Michelin Energy, Michelin Pilot Preceda, Bridgestone Potenza GIII, Yokohama ES100.

To set the context - I was running 185/65 NCT5s prior to the GSD2s. I found the GSD2s significantly more silent, grippy and had better ride than the NCT5s.
Don't know how they compare with the other tyres.

He's giving a good price though. I got them for 3700 a piece.

Guys it happened today !! My babe went through a complete transformation on the rubbers.
Dressed her up with a new set of GSD-2 and League mags. 195/60 R14 is the size I picked.
Did a lot of changing, swapping and ogling at Ventura's,Yokohoma's and Potenza GIII's. My mind and heart said GoodYear and hence stuck to the GSD-2's.
For the mags part of the story, I liked the LG209 from League and got the same installed. Did check a few Plati's and Lenso's ,dint like them though.Personally feel that the Lenso's and Plati's would look hot on swift's.

As for the noise, I am sure its ignorable. Fixed the tyres and headed straight to Hosur road. Not much noise in the cabin and I guess I can live with it for now.

@mega ,sorry to bother you dude. Couldn't resist calling you and checking when I found some neat designs in Plati for 15 inchers .
Thanks a ton to each one of you for having helped me select on the tyres.
Will post pics soon and yeah traded off the old tyres for a good price .
