yup thats right mate ... without testing it can't be proved but when i looked both tyres side by side, i felt that by the pattern of the tyres and the width

hehe

Actually, the best size is indeed 185/60 R14 & here's why:

175/65 R14 - OD 583.1
185/65 R14 - OD 596.1 Change 2.2%
185/60 R14 - OD 577.6 Change -0.9%

So the best size is 185/60 & it seems in the upsize file we made a mistake.

Ishan, does 185/60 R14 hold good if I am doing a upsize from 165/80 R13?

Thanks Rahul!

Meanwhile I checked the Tire Calc, it shows the best upsize for 165/80 R13 is 185/65 R14.
For 175/65 R14, the best upsize would be 185/60 R14 as iraghava pointed out earlier.

Nope Finneyp it doesn't. Here is the table:

165/80 R13: OD - 594.2
185/60 R14: OD - 577.6 Change -2.8%
185/65 R14: OD - 596.1 Change 0.3%

So, it's better you go in for the latter option.

how is performance of ES100 compared to PP ? i think rolling resistance of ES100 will be less than PP
Just by looks you cannot decide amount of rolling resistance.
PP2 is better all rounder as compared to ES100 but ES100 is a silica based product so may have lower rolling resistance.

Ishan.
Again its the same confusion it was for Lancer. Don't know why manufacturers do this !!
Fiat owners and freaks. Does the 1.6 and 1.2/1.1 have different speedo calibrations?? Any idea?

KP, I think so, coz 1.2/1.1 is calibrated for 165/80 R13 and 1.6 for 175/65 R14 (stock tyres).

Anyways after long wait i got the car yesterday and replaced the tyres with yoko ES-100

got it for 3300 per tyre and 1700 for tyre for OE goodyear ......

haven't driven much with the goodyear so can't comment on difference but noise is little less and ride is little more bumpy maybe the tyres are over inflated ..... have to chk the pressure

other the performace car looks gr8 now

congrats on your car Rahul.
What tyre size you finally went for?

I too took a 1.6 three weeks back and
upgraded the tyres to 185/60 PP2s. Bad
roads are really felt now. What pressure
are you maintaining.
