The Tyre dealer (Super Tyretec, JC Road) has given me the following quote:

Aura 13" Alloys : Rs.15250/- for a set of 5 pcs.

Michelin Energy XM1 (185/70 R13) : Rs.3095/- per peice.

Is it a good price?

Are the alloys PCD 98. The price he is quoting for the alloys seems alright. I would still say that 14" rims would have looked much cooler man.

Yes Rishi, I have specifically asked for 98 PCD Alloys.

I wanted to go for 14" rims, but my Odo reading which is currently set for 13" tyres will have to recaliberated, which is not a easy thing to do!
Hence, wanna stick with 13" rims & tyres!

AFAIK, the odo reading is not set as per the rim dia. 13" or 14" will not make a difference.

What you have to keep in mind is the overall diameter i.e. tyre sidewall and the rim dia should be more or less same compared to the OE tyre size.

Vid, I did some R&D on that, checked the Tire Calculator too, and found that using 14" tyres would make my Odo reading incorrect to a large extent!

How easy is it getting 98 PCD alloys for 14" tyres? I know that Aura supplies alloys for the Palio in it's 13" version. I thought that it would be a tough call for the Petra. :( In all probability will be replacing my wheels end of this financial year and have started thinking on those lines now.

Could you please elaborate on that further? How will the speedo know the change in rim dia?

If you change from the stock 165/80-13 to 185/70-13 you will have a speedo error of 0.86%.

Whereas if you upgrade to 185/65-14 the error will only be 0.3%.

Well, I was misinformed/did not research properly. Aura does have 14"ers with 98 PCD. I found some under the Honda and GM sections. Don't look too good, but I guess they serve the purpose with respect to replacements etc. Will have confirm personally though - the site seems old.

TypeO, Thanks to Vid, I am now planning to go for 14" Alloys & Tyres.

Just called up the Tyre dealer to enquire about 14" alloys, he said it is difficult to get 98PCD 14" Alloys, but he will check and let me know.
Will post the info here as soon as I hear from him.
