Firends I am looking forward to acquire a Beetle. Any leads? Please let me know. I am specifically looking out for a reasonably priced ones. Even a car which needs restoration would do.

re: Classic Cars available for purchase

Again seeing and commenting on some advertisements:
Here is a "1976 Vintage" Willys jeep from Goa. Its a low bonnet with a RHD.It has a diesel. Does not fit either with the CJ 2 Series or the CJ 3 series. Can it be CJ two and a half Series??
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...lys-Jeep.html/
This one is two door, clean Hillman Minx coupe of 1947 from Delhi. Excellent and rare car on the picture, but the asking price is on the higher side.

Oh God! This MUV from Bangalore is a 1962 "Vintage" Willys jeep. The bodyshell is new, its a RHD, the steering is from the newer jeeps, the engine is a diesel and the badging on the front is "Mahindra".Even the diesel tank is located on its rear- notice the filler cap at the rear end on the driver's side.Which part of this one dates back to 1962? Maybe only the RC book!

Moving to Kolkata this one is a Mercedes W115 from 1968. The car looks original and the price is OK but the seller categorizes it as Vintage/Classic.As Classic its OK, but Vintage never!!
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...des-W115.html/
This Morris Minor of 1949 from Salem, has a clean bodyline,is quite original on the pictures, but the asking price is astronomical.

It is never my intention to mock or ridicule some of the advertisements, but the advertiser should take care to understand the meaning of the words and phrases he or she uses and pass on proper information, so that gullible buyers who may sometimes be novices are not misled.

Yes, anjanji, but sadly that is what is being done in many classic car sales these days.many buyers are being misled and even befooled.

This is my daily driver and in very original condition including the original upholstery.

If anyone is interested do PM - serious inquiries only. Would love to sell it to an enthusiast who can take care of the car just the way I do.
I will try and en-sure he does.

Very interesting 1951 Triumph Speed Twin available for sale from Bangalore. Well restored and I sure it will sound good. Only negative is that it is a rigid suspension which we are all not used to.

http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...peed-Twin.html

Cheers

Yes you are right! It would be a bumpy ride, like riding a horse. And example of British engineering. Germans are the best at engineering.

I agree to this to some extent however these bikes though rigid the seat comforts to a great extent and you will not feel ride so bumpy. There was another model after this which came with a unique shock absorb build up which is within the rear hub, yes the rear shock absorb were in the rear hub after which the swing arm with twin spring shock absorb followed.

Oh! Thats a nice piece of information. Anyways better than the current Indian ones. The olies were really very tough ones like our grand-dads.

I was comparing it with the BMWs of the same era. Correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.

You are right Wartikars, they are the real gold. They are tough and it proves it's metal not only by withstanding the challenges riders gave (Army & Civilians) in those times but the real toughness they with stood by the passing times, many alive today are the perfect examples, we lost many of the gems.

Even today it makes me astonished and drops my jaw looking at the technology used then still out rules today's complicated technology, for example the engine mechanism which were real simple and easy to work upon, quality parts delivering high endurance, and not to mention the design each bike according to me is a metal marvel.

There were various technological moves took place till now in regards to the suspension setup.

Rear:

1. Rigid (no springs at all, rigid frame like as in bicycles)
2. Drum shock absorb (found in Triumph motorcycles of 50's)
3. Plunger shock absorb (my fav) this is a wonderful setup with two different tension springs make the bike ride like a flight. The axle is fixed in between two springs which gives the rider an absolute comfort.

Front:

1. Grider fork (works on single spring mechanism) I love this tech on BSA
2. Telescopic fork (two different springs on each side)

Though the technology evolved to gas shock absorbers today but still when you ride these magnificent bike you will fall in love with their moves. Each bike has a character and talks about itself. I remember my 1954 BSA B31 used to become an aircraft beyond 40mph.
