Well you were right on most counts...as the auction proceeded many cars closed at prices far higher than their value. Let me give you an example. 2005 w211 e240 at 16.6 lacs this before the vat and auction house commission. Same goes for some other cars as well. The whole thing smelt of the Indian crab story, where someone or a group was bidding way higher than the market, willing to relinquish the security deposits I suspect, driving prices up and keep the cars I suspect unsold or some other larger conspiracy, as no one in their right mind will buy the above car at 18 lacs. I did not get your IT department gain, can you explain. I personally think this whole auction may have many cars not being taken delivery of, maybe I am wrong what the hell do I know

This used to be dark blue and in Bangalore. It belonged to a bank officer if I am correct. The lights were replaced with local items though

That is indeed true if you are talking about a Delhi car. That car was black, original and complete down to the rear view mirror light. The fellow also bought all the parts he could lay his hands on and shipped them out with the car. My mechanic at the time who tuned the car for him, sold him grilles, door handles, and what not.
