I think Mark 1 models which carried the OHV badge on the front mud guards had the trafficator. I know a car which was registered in Trivandrum on 1st June 1962, had this.

But Mark 1 which didn't have the OHV badge and was registered on 2nd Jan 1963, in Trivandrum did not have it (cars in question belonged to my Grandfather and my Uncle).

Hope this will give an approximation reference to answer your question.

Hi Ram,

I clearly remember National Garage Bombay offering the OHV badge/emblem as an accessory when buying Mark 1 ambassadors to show the world that this was not a side valve engined ambassador.

Subject to correction, I therefore do not think it had anything to do with trafficators.
We had refused that option on our BMH 3449

Hi Bulldogji,

I don't think you are wrong. Agree on the point of the OHV badge being offered as an accessory as well. But in most of the smaller cities the OHV badge was a OE fitted accessory (may be the dealer tactics for a few extra bucks - like the white wall tyres). Now that you mentioned it I do remember an OHV Badged Mark 1 without the trafficator.

I was using the OHV badging as a general pointer to give a general idea of the model years until when the trafficators came as standard. That's all.
