From the film Dahek (1999) featuring Akshay Khanna and Sonali Bendre. Voices are of Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam while Aadesh Shrivastava is the music director.

A comparatively new film as compared to those we usually feature, there is a genuine reason for doing so. The USP here are the hordes of Premier taxis on rainy and wet streets of Mumbai. Reminiscing the Fiat /Premier black and yellow taxi domination their sighting is an eye candy. These times are forever gone.

The registration is likely genuine, and the same Jeep MMB 82 is seen in 'Kaala Paani', 'Do Hawaldar', 'Sone Ka Dil Lohe Ka Haath' and 'Parvarish'. Incidentally the registration number MMB 82 makes a guest appearance on a Sunbeam Alpine in Shiksha.

Mazdoor (1983)

A blue Mercedes 114/115 is seen in the opening sequence of the film. The same car is also seen in 'Nikaah'



Note the Dodge/Fargo Rocket stationwagon in the back - the same van was seen in 'Garam Khoon'


A 1970s Fiat sedan, can anyone identify the correct model? Don't miss the factory stickers on the windscreen.

Karz (1980)

Besides the DeSoto posted earlier, we see a stylish Fiat Spyder that I haven't seen before.



A Fintail Mercedes and a Ford Galaxie convertible. The latter was also seen in the film 'Magroor', and survives in a Mumbai collection.

A romantic song "ye lo main haari" from Aar Paar (1954) featuring Geeta Dutt. It's lipsyncd by Shyama. The hero Guru Dutt is also seen. Lyrics is by Majrooh while music is by O. P. Nayyar. The 1954 traffic from Bombay with imports all around can be seen occasionally, while the Chevrolet Fleetmaster taxi is driven by the hero. The number of cars though, appear to be quite less.

Ajantrik, 1958 (Bengali)

A battered 1920 Chevrolet Jalopy named Jagaddal is prominently featured throughout the film.

In this scene we see a 1955 Studebaker pickup


The opening scene to the film shows this Austin taxi.












A slightly later Chevy tourer is seen here derelict.

Kashmakash (1973)

In the opening sequence a 1960s Toyota is seen.



Followed by a Fiat 125.


For the typical chase sequence, a 1947 DeSoto Fluid Drive is used




A pair of Triumph Tiger 100 motorcycles give chase, one of which was also seen in Don and Seeta Aur Geeta.



And naturally the American banger meets a sad fate...

It is heartening to see that the Peugeot that we saw in Dil Aur Deewar and Anpadh survives. It seems it belonged to Ashok Kumar himself.
