Vintage Car's Spotted - Random Sighting's.

Well, don't know whether this is the right place to put these pics, however i realised there wasn't a thread where one could just put random pics of vintage car's spotted, just the thing i wanted to do.

These are a collection of pics i've clicked over a period of last 2 year's, just wanted to put them all at one right place.

Here they are:

A similar thread exists, you may post random sightings on this thread.

That's a good looking car for a workhorse. sedans are so common, wagons are rare. Lovely colour, I think it was called Texas Geld. My neighbour has an identical sedan, also in original yellow paint like yours.

There are a handful of wagons posted elsewhere on the forum, perhaps in this section

The first picture is of the 230sl taken at the willingdon club. The car is a regular there and i presume the picture was taken around the Mercedes Benz sponsored golf tornament.
The other pictures seem to be from the Three pointers club event. Are the last two three pictures of the fintail at the Mercedes factory?

Ek Do Teen!

Congrats Sidharth,

The W123 (as also subsequent W124s) you own has a reputation for being the most indestructible and trouble free car ever. A relic from the times when Mercedes would practice their exhaustive safety test on every car FOUR TIMES, "just in case"! No wonder that the cars which passed this ordeal turned out to be so long lasting and maintainence free in real life.

An interesting story:

I remember watching one episode of "5th gear" where the Anchor bought a 1984 W124 estate and went about a systematic process of destroying it. First he drove the car through a gruelling bumpy track, meant for SUVs. The old car creaked and groaned, but no suspension component was damaged. The lower part of the body was physically damaged though.

Next he drove it through waist deep muddy water (again a track meant for Hardcore SUVs). The car stalled halfway through and started floating! It was taken out and allowed to dry for half a day. Remarkably it started up when cranked in the evening!

Next a monster truck (those pickups with HUGE wheels) was driven on it. The body got fully crumpled, but the safety cage did its job and sheltered the passenger cell. The car was a wreck, but the engine still started up.

Last heard, the wreck has been preserved as an exhibit somewhere and not scrapped. Rest assured, your car will give you many more miles of safe motoring, as long as you drive it normally!

If you mean Mercs of W123 type, then our V16 owns a W123 sedan. Also a few other examples I found on the site:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super-...0d-1984-a.html

However, if you mean the Estate W123, then I dont think we have a similar car on the site.

Thanks diesel_headrock for the pics. This is a classic mercedes thread so only put pics of that marque here unless there is related talk. Thanks for sharing the lovely merc pics with us.

I recognized Freddie's, Dyanesh's Speedy,s and The Mole's cars.

Thanked: Once

that this is the most versatile and trouble free car one can own, I was wondering if anybody else would also be owning such a car or how many had come to India and their whereabouts.

This one also was parked in a garage for a very long time due to some problem, but now for the last 2 years since my father has bought it, it is running like a bird with no problem what so ever.

Recently this car has developed problems in its Air conditioner, we are trying to locate a new AC assembly for it. can anyone HELP!!!!!!!!!!.

One more picture of it.

Hi. What do you mean by AC assembly? Please specify the part you need and one can look.
Your 123T is in good shape. 123 Stationwagons were not so rare, at least 10 have pased through Bombay. One came with a Hyderabad registration and was lying off Marine Drive for a long time with engine removed. V 16 also had a white one lying in his area. Autohanger had 2, one is lying with a friend in Mumbai.
However, 124T's were much rarer.

Is it?? That's news! I always thought it was the other way around. I was offered a single owner W124 250TD a few days back. Good condition, factory leather, abs etc. Any takers?? Can post a pic if needed.
