Jeep Willys

I have recently bought a Willy's Jeep (1966 model) in original condition. My friend restored it as per American war jeep specifications. Even the Stickers and markings are all as per Jeep specifications. This has a 'DI' engine with MM540 Gear box and differential.
After the restoration was completed and all paper works was done with RTO, I bought this jeep. I changed the engine oil and filters.
The gear was getting stuck some times and sound coming while starting the engine. The mechanic doubted that the flywheel must have worn out. So the gear box was taken out and noticed that the flywheel was damaged on one side and worn out. Noticed that the clutch plate was also worn out and there was a crack on one side. So replaced the flywheel and clutch plate.
Now after all the work I have got back the jeep and it is great to drive now. Please view the photos of my Willy's.

We used to have lots and lots of these running about the Nilgiris in the 1970's and 1980's.

Even in the last few years that my parents were based out of there in the Mid to late '90's there used to be a few examples of these lurking about the older garages tucked away in the hillside...most of them are probably consigned to the great scrap-heap in the sky by now.

Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had such a WIllys station wagon which was in use till abt a decade back.dont know the current status
