Sorry I can't do better

Maybe it does not mean anything. The Aurangabad Railway Code is AWB.

Travancore,
Since the railway and station have been there since the age of the motorcar began, do we know when the station got the AWB code? If it was pre 1939 then surely there is a good chance the cars had AWB also?
Cheers

That hand holding the arm is not a girls.

Harit,
Since the bike is post war, I feel certain it is not an Indian registration. British I presume and I think the tax disc holder on the headlight would suggest that also.
Cheers

An interesting excerpt from August 1910:

Progression of licence plates on the left; interesting car prices on the right.

I doubt that's a Bantam. Seems to be something else. Probably British though.

Not necessarily - many Indian states used the tax disc. I have seen them on cars registered in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala, amongst others.

Harit,
You are quite right about the worldplates website. The guy wrote most of the pages a very long time ago using some doubtful information available from an American collectors association.

As for the MS bike, I didn't mean in the UK but imported from and still carrying the number. I don't know of any (ex) British colonies that had MS for a post war code.
Cheers

This may have been posted before.

Re: Early registration numbers in India

This is a new registration, likely Bangalore/Mysore in the 1920's.
Any opinions?

We have seen BA 21 (numbers not too clear) on a Swift and BA 1786 on a Norton, both in Bangalore, so you are likely to be correct. We have also seen BAN series.
