BCSC considers pre-1985 scoots as classic.

Any particular reason for the period 1985 and not beyond this?

If it is an early one with the trapezoid headlight, I would say it is indeed worth acquiring. Those are getting relatively rare now, there used to be so many of them around in Hyd.

Between 1955 and 1985 is roughly the timeframe when most of these scooters were assembled / manufactured in India, until they died a quiet death with the advent of the Japanese bikes. I have even seen a 1996 Vijai Super, badged GP 150, meant for the export market. Can this 1996 scoot be called classic, and can it attend our rallies? The answer is an overwhelming yes! Though it was made in 1996, it is based on a classic scooter (Lambretta LI 150 Series 3) and that is why we would welcome it! It is not about the year of manufacture really...it is about whether it follows the style of classic scooters. There is basically one thing common among the "classic" scooters our club welcomes...they have manually -operated gears. So, no one can bring in a 1987 Kinetic Honda, and demand to be a member of our Club. I hope this clarifies BCSC's take on what is "classic" and what is not.

@Sidman,I have a Vespa PVX which is 1996 made.Infact it is built on the model of PL170 by AP Scooters.Does this qualify for a classic as I have seen a PL170 attending your Rallys.

The Vijai was based only on the GP/DL 150, not Li S3.
@ram: do you mean to say you intend to take your scooters all the way to Bangalore to attend the BCSC rallies?

BCSC First year anniversary on TV9

I have very closely tracked the whole day yesterday by recording all programs on TV9 but seem to have missed the BCSC feature when it was aired! Did anybody see it? Can we have it posted on youtube?

@ BCSC Founders :: can we get TV9 to give us the full recording, make copies and distribute it amongst members? I think they must have shot footage close to 3 hours!

@Srivathsa,

you were actually tracking the wrong channel, it was aired on News9 which is a local english news channel. It is not TV9 to which most of the people got confused with.

It was really worth every minute of the 15 mins aired, fantastic

We are trying to get the footage that was shown on News 9. Will let you know when we do. It was good coverage...Gokul ferried the cameraman on his scoot, and thats why you have some really cool camera action.
