The ex-Mysore New Phantom, chassis 4RC

When the prestigious Bangalore Club, in association with Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club (KVCCC) announced their annual Vintage Car & Bike Show, there was much excitement.

The highlight of the event on 27th Nov’22 would be that the current Maharaja of Mysore, HRH Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar would be the Chief Guest. Additionally Daimlers, formerly owned by his grandfather HRH Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar would be showcased, including a drive for him in the cars.

From the erstwhile Mysore Garage, three Daimlers remain in Karnataka. While the Daimler DE36 Landaulette (Chassis 51708) could not make it, Daimler DE27 Windover bodied Limousine (Chassis 51078) and Daimler DB18 Saloon (Chassis 50931) were on show.

Maharaja of Mysore HRH Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar at the “Mysore Room” at the Bangalore Club.

The Daimler marque shines with the Maharaja. Probably after 1957, that is for the first time in 65 years, a Mysore Royal going for the drive in this car

The garage was full fledged and even Raman's notes had captured the same

Shrivadhan Kanoria shared the picture of Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Touring Saloon by Hooper, Chassis WVA56. Purchased by his grandfather from the Maharaja of Mysore. The car is now part of Bogilal Collection

The picture shows the car probably in its orginal colour combination

An article in deRivas and Ives describes a 1947 Invicta Black Prince, originally imported by the Mysore royalty, changing hands and moving to the Gondal ruler and now with a collector in Pune.
