Here is His Royal Highness Jaya Chamarajendra Wodeyar of Mysore, with Air Vice Marshal Goyal. The car is probably the Daimler?

Attachment 1226693

Also did anyone catch the Mark VI visible in the back? I assume it is a Mysore car.
The first picture with the Maharaja seems to be the Daimler MEX-1

Karl, this is the famous Webb Bentley which I understand is currently in Australia where the family immigrated many moons back.

The ex-Mysore (Prof. Peter Moore) Viotti Dilambda seems to be back on the road again - in a new avatar.

Looks smashing. Any idea if this was the original colour scheme?

I've never seen bumper ends like that. Nice.

I had posted a picture many moons back, from Veteran & Vintage that showed the car along with Prof. Moore's Alvis and the Alwar Lanchester.
It was all white (or a very light cream) in that B&W picture.

Unfortunately cannot find it now on the forum!

The same bumpers can be seen on many Dilambdas on the web.

The bumpers are original, so says the lady in the picture, a very dear friend of mine.

I have seen the car being restored over the last few years, a neat job done by friends .

Peter would have been delighted to drive this beauty now

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

Here is a car driven by Mrs. Narsinga Rao Purnaiya, dughter-in-law of Diwan Sir Narsinga Rao Purnaiya Krishnamurthy.

Mentions that she was the first Indian lady to drive in the State of Mysore.

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

The following are from eye witness accounts of David Bolland who spent many years in India.

A Mysore Palace Car Auction in 1955. The values of the RR SG (Chassis 1683) and Delahaye are indeed interesting.

If the Delahaye is the 1949 Type 175 (or 178 ?) -later Elton John, the car would only have been 6 years old at this auction.

Also a description of the Dassara Pooja that same year.....things did not go as planned!

The Cord is for sale again. Says it is an ex-Mysore car.

I wonder if there is some concrete information to back it up - or they just read a line on Team BHP Sorry to be pessimistic, but often sellers in the west only know the Maharajas of Mysore and Jai-pore. Either ways, hope the car comes to India the second time around.

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

On a large photo of the Mysore Palace showing the Maharaja getting ready to set off on a hunt with his Brit masters, was this car seen in a corner. It's covered up registration said Mysore 17.
What car could this be, and is it still around?
The resolution of this photograph is extremely good, the photo was blown up from 11% to 150% and still very sharp.
There is an embossed stamp saying "The Mysore Palace Studio".

That handsome limousine is of course the Hispano-Suiza, now at the Naidu Museum in Coimbatore. Probably Saoutchik bodied, and I think the only one from the famed coachbuilder in India. Does anyone remember any others?

Incidentally sometime earlier I saw this image (which the car just a tiny part of the frame). I think it was on TeamBHP itself.

This car is currently being restored at Indore for the famed Cartier show in March . Writing to the curator of the show might give more details.

Cheers
