re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

We had never imagined this would be our first car, but it is!

Make : Honda
Model : Jazz
Variant : Select MT
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : 24th April, 2012
Color : Rallye Red
Expected Delivery Date : 17-18th May, 2012
Dealer : Linkway Honda
Freebies : None whatsoever :(
Cost : started with 7.07 lakhs but shot up to 7.20 lakhs because of the hike in registration fee

Here's hoping the RTO delays cease (registration to take 3-4 days and yesterday they couldn't because of some strike) and we get our car

Make sure you get something else in place of sun films, you cannot install, now that the SC has passed judgement banning them.

THe same 50 ltrs costs me Rs. 4,075/- here in Bangalore and I still don't regret buying the TSI over the TDi

Booking amount is the token money which we give to the dealer to assure that we are buying the car, it is with dealer only and if we cancel the booking they return it to the customer. I remember in year 2000 my dad cancelled the booking of Alto 1.1 and our booking amount was refunded the same day (Rs. 5000).

Booking amount is not any extra payment and is included in your car's on road price.

My vRS arrived yesterday at the dealers late evening.
Went and had a quick dekho as soon as I was informed. Tomorrow is "D" day.

Booked a SWIFT VDi yesterday for the family and younger cousins. Details below

Dealer: Vitesse, Worli - Mumbai
Model: Swift VDi
Color: White (Pearl)
Ex Showroom Price: 6,21,150/- (Mumbai)
RTO and Incidental Charges: 70,052/-
Insurance: 16,557/- (Self)
Depot Charges: 6340/-
Accessories Free: Mudflaps and Matting
Exchanged Car: Chevrolet Optra 1.6 Base 2004 Single Owner
Exchange Value 1,10,000/-
Total Onroad Cost: 7,14,099/- (excluding exchange)
Delivery Date: 4th June 2012

I was shocked when I saw the price list of the Swift. I had bought a Swift VDi in 2008 for 5.8lakhs (OTR). The car is now nearly 1.3lakhs more expensive.
Was in a good mood to argue and fight about the incidental and depot charges, but since the Swift VDi is such a high demand car and we are getting the car on immediate delivery basis I resisted. The dealer informed me that the Depot Charges are Maruti Suzuki charges and I could take up the issue with them and they would support me if they can.

Congratulations on your booking. Am very very surprised at such a short delivery time for a Swift Diesel in Mumbai. I had heard wait times of upto 8 months for diesel cars.

3days to go!

The Swift VDi is now available off the shelf. The ZDi and some D'zire models have a 2 - 6 month waiting period.
