Car arrived after 82 days of booking. Completed PDI today. All clear!
Getting a 10 day fresh car with only 11kms on Odo

Taking delivery tomorrow(Friday, 9th Jul'21) evening.

Accessories ordered(Toyota Genuine Accessories):
  1. Side visor
  2. Rear bike protector
  3. Chrome rear license
  4. Side footstep
  5. Illuminated scuff plate white
  6. Auto folding mirror
  7. Will get 3D Kagu mats as well
Accessories put on hold:
  1. Dash Camera: Dealer did not have stock of genuine accessories and was pushing for Blaupunkt (BP 4.0 FHD). Dealer said they will not hardwire dashcam to fuse-box; I have to use 12V socket. Since I need 12V socket for my mobile charger, I dropped the idea.
  2. 360 Degree Surround Camera: Dealer did not have stock of genuine accessory and was pushing for some NVC brand which I denied. I will explore this later once genuine accessories stock is available.
Other points
  • Last 4 digits of VIN are 0621 which means car is manufactured in Jun'21
  • Battery cover has charging date of 27-Jun-21.
  • Bridgestone Turanza tyres are manufactured in 18th week of 2021(3rd-9th May).
My Ownership review will take long. Will keep posting pictures in meantime. Attaching some pictures from today:

PDI Side Note
To be honest, 2/3rd through the PDI when I had no observation, tada, nothing- I was wondering 'What I am doing here?!' Sure dealer staff were having a laugh at me.
I had to say myself 'Come on man, its a Toyota. Throw away the PDI list and get going fast on a long drive'

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

So after a long wait we have booked a Ford EcoSport. The plan initially started with the BS4 to BS6 transition era as there were offers of <= 10.2L on road for BS4 Titanium Petrol but we ended up waiting for BS6 + facelift. Thankfully we didn't buy a car before the last year of lockdown otherwise it would have just stood in the parking for a year.

Kushaq created a dilemma, we ended up waiting for it's launch and did a test drive. Technically I should have waited another week to get home TD of Kushaq to check parking constraints but decided not to. Kushaq base variant is good VFM and the extra space in Kushaq is dedicated to the legroom which we can live without. Ambition still feels a little overpriced for my current use case (car will be used mostly for family trips so reliability, safety and hassle free ownership are primary factors). I will consider Kushaq for my own use in Bangalore once things are normal and we are back in office.

Make : Ford
Model : EcoSport
Variant : Titanium
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : 11 July 2021
Color : TBD
Expected Delivery Date : 18 July 2021
Dealer & City : Delhi Ford, Safdarjung Enclave
On Road Price : 10.89L including dealer discounts
Detailed Price Break Up :
RTO/HSRP/FASTag - 76,760
Insurance - Dealer Insurance 29K Zero Dep + RTI + Cashless
Basic Accessories - 3400 (Cover, mud flaps, floor mats, trunk mat)
Remaining amount is essentially dealer discount. (9.99L ex showroom)
Will be getting a few Ford accessories like seat covers, stainless steel scuff plates installed as well. Those will be on cost + dealer discount as on delivery date. There is an official accessory called wheel arch cladding, does it make sense to go for it?

Hello chautob0t,
Congratulations in advance.
Regarding wheel arch cladding, its a good accessory to have due to:
1) Saves wheel arches from scratches.
2) Fit & finish at dealer is good. It's quite strong material.
3) Improves looks of the car especially at wheel arches.

Few pictures attached for your reference:

There are some variables that you haven't considered.

1) Maintenance cost for non VAG cars would be lower. For instance, maintenance cost for my Ecosport diesel has been 5-5.5 K for the three annual paid services that I have had.
2) Running cost too will be lower for cars with high mileage, again for instance Ecosport delivers a good 17-18 kmpl on average.
3) Terminal value will differ. Except VAG/Skoda and to some extent Tata cars, other mainstream brands should have a bit higher resale value.
4) The performance (both mileage and acceleration) still needs to be tested in our conditions. Considering Nexon EV, would be a bit more vary of Tata's frequent ASS niggles.

A slight hiccup here. I had booked the car at home, went to showroom today as there was a dilemma in choosing the colour. There were 3 ready for delivery cars, one of them was Titanium+ AT in smoke grey with new Titanium S alloys.mWe really loved the combo and wanted to go for it.

The SA and his senior gave so many reasons for Petrol Titanium not having the Titanium S alloys. Reasons like the stocks are all mixed, whatever is coming from the company will be given to you. Titanium+ has got the S alloys but not Titanium. My dad even suggested swapping alloys if some customer and the dealership is onboard, which I was personally against and so were the SA and his senior as "every part number is noted and warranty issues will happen".

Ultimately we went to the stock yard with SA and I showed him 2 Titaniums with new alloys myself. After that, the option of alloy swap was suddenly feasible, but so were the fears of next month prices may rise or fall and so can the discount. And next lot of cars will arrive by August end and what not. (Sure you will sell only 50 odd cars that are in the yard, most of which you claim are booked already, in next two months)

I mentioned if the prices rise by even 1000, Ford will lose so many customers including us to base model Kushaq due to higher tax slabs. Then came stories of 15K per year service of Skoda and go ahead and buy anything but a Skoda/VAG car as a personal recommendation.

Anyway, they had not deposited the advance cheque and we brought it back. I will take a couple of days and talk to another dealership which has said next lot will probably have new alloys but will confirm once it arrives.

While the dealership has been fantastic in dealing with us so far, the push to go for old stock with old alloys and that too with silly reasons ruined the experience a bit. Am I being too silly wanting the model with updated alloys? If another dealership doesn't do such shenanigans, are the new alloys worth it at say 10K more?

Congrats mate. It is an iconic and reliable steed from the Honda stable. I thought you are going ahead with Kushaq.
Loved the new Honda city for its plush ride and features. Expecting an ownership review soon

Congratulations for booking Sonet.

I can see from your profile picture that you already have a Honda City. Currently, I am confused between buying Sonet HTX D AT and Honda City 5th Gen V CVT. Although Sonet has all the bells and whistles, City seems safer and more spacious car.

But, GC of city worries me. Wanted to know your experience with the City, reason for opting for Sonet and how good/bad is the GC of City actually (specially for trips outside Delhi)

Thanks.
I had the Honda City. It was sold off 2 days back with a very heavy heart

If you are worried about speed breakers, City glides over them fine without scraping. However, it's not a car you will drive in monsoon season with waterlogged roads. Due to its low stance there is a real fear of water getting into engine bay. I always preferred driving my Tiago during rains. City is indeed more spacious and comfortable. My usage demands a diesel Auto so I chose Sonet. If City had a Diesel Auto we would have seriously considered it too. If your running is less I will suggest you should go with City, it's reliable and the comfort it provides on long drives is superb.

I thought the 1L subsidy went up to 1.5L. But now am confused with this. Please throw some light.
