First lot of BS6 Mahindra XUV500 dispatched to dealers

It is believed that BS6 complaint units of the Mahindra XUV500 are being dispatched to dealerships across the country. A total of 55 cars have been allotted which are expected to reach by May end / first week of June 2020.

These cars were produced in the third week of March, before the ongoing coronavirus related lockdown was announced. It is estimated that, from the first lot, 47% of the SUVs are the W11 (O) manual transmission variant while the W9 and W7 MT variants get a 34% share each. The remaining 5% are the base W5 MT variant.

Further, 85% of the cars are finished in white colour, while black accounts for 11% and the silver for 4%. Production of the XUV500 is expected to resume shortly and these units should reach dealerships by the last week of June.

Last week, we had reported that the automatic variants of the XUV500 have been put on hold due to possible supply chain issues.

The XUV500 is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 153 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 360 Nm @ 1,750-2,800 rpm. The SUV is priced from Rs. 13.20 lakh.
