How to keep your driving licence properly & prevent it from fading

I keep my DL in my wallet so that I can use it as an ID document when required.

BHPian mukeshgoel recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hi guys, please suggest how to keep my driving license safe. My previous license faded so much in the last 10 years.

This is how it looked when it was new:

This is how it looks now:

It was kept in a leather wallet.

Any tips or suggestions?

Here's what GTO had to say about the matter:

For years, I've been using a plastic cover like this one. No issues.

Here's what BHPian Sahil had to say about the matter:

Simple, keep it safely in your locker and use digilocker.

Here's what BHPian Maky had to say about the matter:

I got mine laminated after I noticed it had started to fade. It hasn't faded since, been about 6 years now.

Here's what BHPian DicKy had to say about the matter:

Kerala has it easy. We receive the DL laminated from the RTO itself.

The only thing is that it is not a card, just two pieces of crudely cut paper glued together.

Here's what BHPian TSIched'Out had to say about the matter:

I use these covers for both DL and RC. These do their job satisfactorily. Ideally, one should not get chip/magnetic strip based DL and RC laminated but use some protective covers like these.

Maybe Team-BHP can offer these as T-BHP branded ones in its Store along with keychains and stickers.
