Maruti Suzuki has announced that it expects vehicle production at two of its manufacturing units to be around 60% of normal levels in October 2021.
Production has been hit due to the global chip shortage. In September, Maruti Suzuki's total production across both factories was around 40% of normal. Similarly, in August this year, production at Maruti's facilities was down by 30-40%.
Last month, there were reports of Maruti increasing its output to around 1,60,000-1,80,000 units in October 2021 and had informed its component suppliers to plan their production accordingly. It was also said that Maruti Suzuki was making arrangements to secure the supply of chipsets through multiple channels.
